Warriors vs Clippers Preview & Free Pick | Prediction [Game 6]

Golden State (3-2) at LA Clippers (2-3)
When: Friday, April 26th, 2019
Where: Staples Center,
Los Angeles, CA
Time: 10:00 ET | TV: ESPN
Opening Odds: Golden State -9/234.5

For the second time this series, the Golden State Warriors got caught sleep-walking in a home game and thus have to play a Game 6 on the road to try and close out their first round Western Conference series with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Staples Center, which didn’t see any playoff hockey or LeBron and the Lakers in the postseason, will get at least one more game as the Clippers try to extend this series to the max. Golden State played lackadaisical defense in allowing Los Angeles to shoot 54.1 percent in the 129-121 Game 5 victory at Oracle Arena. The Warriors also lost Game 2 at home 135-131 as 13.5-point favorites, but have taken both at Staples Center by a combined 35 points. L.A. reserves Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell were terrific, scoring 33 and 24 points respectively while shooting a combined 23-of-36 and making 10-of-11 free throws. The Warriors are 10-point favorites as of Thursday night and will be looking to avoid a potential Game 7 back in Oakland on Sunday.

Durant scored a playoff career-high 45 points in Wednesday’s setback including five 3-points and a perfect 12-of-12 free throws. Stephen Curry contributed 24 points, but only attempted five three-pointers – making four – and had a team-high three turnovers. Klay Thompson took 20 shots for the second consecutive game, but made just nine of them in Game 5 and was just 4-of-11 from long range.

Williams has been the spark Los Angeles has needed to keep this series going, but is averaging only 17.7 points in the three setbacks as opposed to 34.5 in the two victories. Williams also added 10 assists in the Game 5 win for his second double-double of the series. Harrell, who shot 11-of-14 from the floor, is hitting 75 percent (42-of-56) in this series. Small forward Danilo Gallinari scored 26 points in Game 5 after totaling 25 points on 7-of-33 shooting in Games 3 and 4. Point guard Patrick Beverley, who averaged 7.6 rebounds during the regular season, has 24 in the last two games.

The road team has won 4 of the 5 games in this series.

I fully expect the Warriors to be more focused in this game as they don’t want it to come down to a Game 7, but this Clippers team is scrappy and has nothing to lose. I know the two games in L.A. were ugly, but look for Lou Williams to have another big game and keep his team within single-digits.
