It’s the NBA’s best offense against the stingiest defense when the red-hot Golden State Warriors visit the even hotter Boston Celtics on Thursday night at TD Garden. Both teams got off to slow starts this season, but are now the top teams in their respective conferences and may be in line for a June matchup in the Finals. The Celtics will try and extend their 13-game winning streak against the defending NBA Champions who have won seven games straight. The Celtics own the best defense in the NBA, limiting opponents to an average of 94.5 points, and will be going up against the NBA’s best offense in Golden State, which is putting up an average of 119.6 points. During Golden State’s winning streak, they have beaten their opponents by an average of 19.9 points. The visiting team took the last five in the series, and Golden State has won in its last four trips to Boston.

Golden State star point guard Stephen Curry sat out Monday’s 110-100 win over the Orlando Magic with a thigh contusion but should return on Thursday as the Warriors begin a four-game road trip. Golden State, which leads the NBA in assists (31.3) and field-goal percentage (51.9), still managed to hand out 35 assists and shoot 50% from the floor with Curry out of the lineup against the Magic. Shooting guard Klay Thompson has been on fire, draining 13-of-23 from 3-point range over the last three games. Golden State gives up a lot of points (107.7) because of their pace of play, but are limiting opponents to a league seventh-best shooting percentage (43.9). The Warriors continue their road trip in Philadelphia on Saturday.

The road team has won 6 of the past 7 meetings in this series.

Boston’s point guard is also playing through an injury as Kyrie Irving, who sat out a 95-94 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday with a facial fracture, returned on Tuesday and played with a mask in a 109-102 victory at Brooklyn. Irving, who is expected to wear the mask again on Thursday, managed 25 points on 8-of-20 shooting against the Nets. All five starters scored in double-figures in Brooklyn on Tuesday including Marcus Morris, who recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds and made 8-of-12 from the field. Center Al Horford is 16-of-19 from the floor in two games since returning from a concussion. Boston begins a three-game road trip on Saturday in Atlanta.

TITANS VS STEELERS PREVIEW AND FREE PICK

I think the Celtics long winning streak finally comes to an end, but not before they put up a fight. They’ll slow down the Warriors offense for a while, but Golden State will prove to be too much in the final quarter and come away with a close victory.
