When: Monday, July 2nd 2018

Time: 8:10 ET | TV: FS North, FS Wisconsin
Opening Odds: Milwaukee -150/8.5

The Minnesota Twins finally got some offense away from home this weekend, but it wasn’t enough to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. They now turn the bus north into Wisconsin to take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the first of a three-game interleague set on Monday night. The Twins scored 25 runs in Chicago, but lost all three games 10-6, 14-9, and 11-10, leaving them a distant nine games behind Cleveland in the American League Central. Minnesota found itself in an early eight-run hole before dropping an 11-10 decision Sunday to fall to 15-25 away from Target Field. Brian Dozier, who hit a two-run shot in the series finale, has two homers among his five hits during the first six games of the nine-game road trip. Catcher Mitch Garver is 9-for-15 with a homer, three RBIs and five runs scored in his last six games. While, the Twins were scoring left-and-right in Chicago, Milwaukee’s offense stalled in two straight losses to the Cincinnati Reds, getting a Ryan Braun two-run homer in the ninth inning Sunday to avoid the club from being shut out for the 11th time this season. Braun has answered a 2-for-18 stretch with eight hits – including two homers – and five runs scored and four RBIs in his last seven games. Milwaukee has lost five of eight overall, but remain a half-game ahead of the Cubs in the NL Central.

Pitchers: Twins – Kyle Gibson (2-6, 3.48 ERA) | Brewers – Brent Suter (8-5, 4.28)

Kyle Gibson is still stuck at two victories on the season and is 1-5 in his last eight outings after allowing five runs on a season-high 11 hits in a 6-1 setback at the Chicago White Sox last Wednesday. Gibson began the eight-game stretch by allowing five runs versus Milwaukee including two homers and four walks.

Brent Suter ended his three-start winning streak Wednesday after allowing four runs on six hits in as many innings of a 5-4 setback versus Kansas City. Suter pitched well in his last encounter with Minnesota on May 18th, allowing one run while striking out six in 5.2 innings of an 8-3 victory. He has allowed seven homers in as many outings.

Despite his record and poor showing last week, Gibson has been the ace of this staff and has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his last six starts. The Twins bats are hot right now and that will help carry them to an upset victory over Milwaukee in the opener of their series.

Pick: Twins +124
