The sizzling Denver Nuggets look to extend their winning streak when they embark on a one-game road trip to the Northwest Division rival Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night. The Nuggets have won three straight and seven of their last nine thanks to an offense that is clicking on all cylinders right now. Denver shot 52.9% from the floor and had all five starters score in double figures as the backcourt combination of Will Barton and Jamal Murray combined for 58 points and center Nikola Jokic just missed out on a triple-double in Saturday’s 125-107 win over the Orlando Magic. The Blazers took the first two of a six-game homestand over the Thunder and Lakers, but dropped the last two, including a 101-97 setback to the Brooklyn Nets on Friday. Portland remains 1.5 games behind Northwest-leading Denver and have won six of the last seven meetings with the Nuggets.

Murray scored a career-high 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc in Saturday’s route. The former Kentucky Wildcat scored in single digits while combining to go 9-of-25 from the field in the previous four games. Jokic’s near triple-double consisted of 12 points, 17 rebounds, and nine assists, and four steals. His points per game is up from 16.7 a year ago to 17.2 now and his three-point percentage is at 42.6%. Emmanuel Mudiay is logging big-time minutes off the bench as is averaging 12.2 points a game. Denver returns home to face New Orleans on Friday before hitting the road for three-straight.

The home team has won 4 of the last 5 matchups.

Point guard Damian Lillard is averaging a team-high 25.2 points, but has cooled-off a bit lately, failing to reach 20 points in either of the last two games. Lillard is 8-of-36 from 3-point range in five games this month, including 1-of-10 in the last two losses. Shooting guard CJ McCollum has picked up some of the offense by going 18-of-33 from 3-point range in the last four games but had a string of three straight outings scoring at least 20 points come to an end with 17 on Saturday. Portland will be home to Orlando on Wednesday to wrap-up their six-game homestand.

DOLPHINS VS PANTHERS PREDICTION

Portland is a real hit-or-miss team when it comes to scoring as they don’t have much after Lillard and McCollum. However, those two alone can win a bunch of games when they’re on. Denver doesn’t defend the 3-point line very well and I can see Portland making them pay tonight.
