Nebraska vs Kansas State Preview and Free Pick – October 7th, 2010 ]]> include($base_url . “/includes/header.htm”); ?>
After breezing through their first 4 non-conference games, the Nebraska Cornhuskers open up their Big 12 season on the road against the Wildcats of Kansas State. The strength of Nebraska’s team is their defense which ranks 7th in the nation allowing only 12.8 points per game. They are also 3rd against the pass. Their big playmaker, however is on offense in QB Taylor Martinez. He might not be a Denard Robinson of Michigan, but he’s still very dangerous. He’s ran for 8 touchdowns this season and is averaging 9.3 yards a carry. He has struggled a bit as a passer with only 2 touchdowns to 3 interceptions. Kansas State is playing their 5 consecutive home game. They opened up the season with a nice victory over UCLA. Running back Daniel Thomas is 5th in the nation with 628 yards rushing. He will have a tough time getting through the Nebraska defense tonight. Despite K-State’s 4-0 record I don’t think they are any match for Nebraska. Kansas State is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games versus teams with a winning record, while the Huskers are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games as a favorite of more than 10.5 points. I’m sure the Wildcats will come out fired up and keep it close for a little while, but in the end the Huskers will prove they are much better.
Pick: Nebraska -11.5
