It maybe too late for the Tampa Bay Rays to make it to the postseason, but they are the hottest team in baseball right now. Tampa Bay seeks their 13th straight home victory when they continue their three-game series with the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field. In dramatic fashion Monday, Ji-Man Choi blasted a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Rays a 6-5 victory in the series opener, breaking their franchise record for consecutive home wins in the process. Former Cardinal Tommy Pham extended his hitting streak to 14 games (24-for-59) with two singles, including one in the ninth that set up Choi’s heroics. The Rays won their fourth straight game – scoring 38 runs in that span – and 17th in the last 20 overall to get within 7.5 games of the American League’s second wild card spot. Cleveland has stumbled in three of their last four, but their magic number to clinch the AL Central sits at four. Former American League MVP third baseman Josh Donaldson, who was acquired in a trade from Toronto on August 31st, is set to make his Cleveland debut Tuesday. Indians reliever Andrew Miller (shoulder) struck out two in a scoreless inning Monday after being activated from a two-week stint on the disabled list and will be a key factor in Cleveland’s postseason run.

Pitchers: Indians – Shane Bieber (9-3, 4.63 ERA) | Rays – Tyler Glasnow (1-5, 4.64)

Shane Bieber has been roughed-up in his last four outings, allowing 15 runs in 23.1 innings, but his record in that span is 3-1, thanks to some very generous offensive support by his teammates (27 runs in his last three victories). Bieber allowed four across 6.1 innings at Toronto in his last start, and pitched five scoreless innings before surrendering four runs against the Rays on September 1st.

Tyler Glasnow has made seven starts since coming over from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline, and is coming off his worst outing of the season. He allowed seven runs over two-thirds of an inning at Toronto last Wednesday after the strong start at Cleveland prior. Glasnow gave up one run in four of his seven starts since being acquired, but has yet to earn a victory. He has a 3.75 ERA in three games at Tropicana Field this year.

The Indians appear to be sleep-walking through the rest of the season, while the Rays are playing like a team possessed. Bieber has not been good and the hot-hitting Rays should be able to take advantage of that.

Pick: Rays +102
