The Indiana Hoosiers have missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons and time is running out in order to break that skid, but ranked teams are on the immediate schedule. Indiana will visit the No. 19 Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday night in a game they must have before facing No. 23 Wisconsin and seventh-ranked Michigan next. The Hoosiers have tumbled all the way down to near the bottom of the Big Ten standings by losing 11 of their last 12 games overall and will try to avoid their fourth setback in five meetings with Iowa. The Hawkeyes are in great shape for an NCAA Tourney-bid, but would like to build their resume a bit before heading into March. Iowa’s four-game winning streak came to an end on Tuesday with a 66-65 loss to No. 25 Maryland, as they missed two potential game-winning shots in the final seconds. The Hawkeyes have played some tight games recently with the last three being decided by a total of four points and are seeking to sweep the season series with Indiana for the first time since 2010-11.

Indiana suffered their fifth-straight home loss on Tuesday with an ugly 48-46 setback to rival Purdue and shot a dismal 27.3% from the field and 5-of-25 from long range. Freshman star Romeo Langford just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds despite being hampered by flu-like symptoms. Nine of his points came from the free throw line as he was 2-of-6 from the field. Juwan Morgan also came close to recording a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds, but missed the potential go-ahead 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining and was 1-for-7 overall from long range. De’Ron Davis chipped in eight points and six rebounds.

Iowa’s defense has let them down at times, but the offense has been solid all season, ranking 34th in the country in scoring (80.5), 46th in three-point shooting (37.7 percent), and 32nd in free throw percentage (75.3). Tyler Cook leads the team in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (8.0) but was held to season-low six points while Luka Garza was held to five points on 1-of-7 shooting against Maryland. Jordan Bohannon scored a team-high 14 points and dished out four assists, but missed a shot from beyond the arc in the closing seconds Tuesday after draining the last-second game-winner in the previous game. Isaiah Moss recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Indiana has covered the spread in 5 of the last 7 meetings with Iowa.

Iowa is one of the more underrated teams in the country and should have no trouble with Indiana on Friday. The Hoosiers have been bad and really have nothing to play for. Look for a double-digit Hawkeyes win.
