The San Antonio Spurs were breezing through their first round series with the Memphis Grizzlies until they hit the road, and now the Grizzlies have a renewed confidence after evening the series on their home floor. Game 5 is Tuesday night back at AT&T Center where the Spurs won the first two contests by a combined 43 points. San Antonio’s MVP candidate, Kawhi Leonard, had another remarkable game, but didn’t get much help from those around him in the 110-108 overtime loss on Saturday. Leonard scored the team’s final 16 points in regulation to force overtime before Grizzlies center Marc Gasol buried the game-winner in the final second. Leonard scored a career playoff-high 43 points in Game 4 to mark the third time in the series he either matched or exceeded a previous personal best. He was 7-of-10 from 3-point range and added eight rebounds and six steals while the rest of the San Antonio squad went a combined 2-of-20 from beyond the arc in the loss. Leonard has also made all 40 of his free throw attempts in the four games thus far.

Leonard isn’t the only one hitting their free throws as the Grizzlies made 22-of-24 attempts in the Game 4 victory. Point guard Mike Conley has been terrific since a sub-par Game 1, scoring 24 points each in Games 2 and 3, then exploding for 35 on Saturday. Conley set a franchise postseason record with those 35 points in the Game 4 and is averaging 24 points and 7.8 assists in the series. “The guy’s a superstar,” Grizzlies coach David Fizdale told reporters of Conley. “You’ve watched it happen this year, but now you’re watching it on the biggest stage with the biggest lights, and he’s really rising to the occasion.” Shooting guard Vince Carter went 3-of-5 from 3-point range in Game 4 to become the first 40-year-old in NBA history to make at least three 3-pointers in a playoff game. Forward Zach Randolph was just 4-of-12 from the floor, but brought down 11 rebounds and led the team with a +14 rating. Gasol finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, but also committed seven turnovers.

I can’t see Memphis winning away from home in this series, but they do have a renewed confidence that should be able to keep them in this game. Ten points is a lot and I’ll take it.

Pick: Grizzlies +10
