The Los Angeles Dodgers have wrapped-up everything they need to for a big run in October, but the Colorado Rockies still have some work to do if they want to play L.A. again next week in a five-game series. The two teams will conclude their regular seasons with a three-game series at Coors Field starting Friday and both are coming in swinging hot bats. The Rockies enter the final series two games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers in the race for the second wild card after thumping the Miami Marlins 15-9 on Wednesday. Charlie Blackmon is 7-for-18 with five runs scored and five RBIs in the last four games for Colorado. The Dodgers are rolling into the final weekend strong and outscored the San Diego Padres 28-5 in a three-game sweep this week. Tonight’s starters will try and slow the offenses as right-hander Chad Bettis goes for the Rockies opposite lefty Hyun-Jin Ryu. Los Angeles needs a three-game sweep to match the club record of 105 victories.

Pitchers: Dodgers – Hyun-Jin Ryu (5-8, 3.47 ERA) | Rockies – Chad Bettis (1-4, 5.72)

Ryu had his last start cut short after being drilled in the forearm by a line drive but came through a bullpen session on Tuesday with no issues and is looking to grab a spot in the postseason rotation. Ryu has been good, allowing one or no runs in seven of his last nine starts. Ryu had his worst start of the season at Colorado on May 11th, when he was hit for 10 runs – five earned – on eight hits and six walks in four innings.

Bettis has failed to complete six innings in any of his last six starts and has lost his last two. He was ripped for five runs on three hits and three walks in one-third of an inning at Arizona on September 14th and lasted just 4.2 innings at San Diego on Saturday while surrendering one run and seven hits. Bettis’ only win this year came at Los Angeles on September 9th, when he held the Dodgers to four runs – three earned – on six hits while striking out five in as many innings.

Colorado needs the victory, but I really like L.A. in this one because of the pitching matchup. Also, the Dodgers’ offense is hot and they want to go into next week with some momentum. I don’t see Bettis lasting more than five innings in this one.

Pick: Dodgers -107
