LA Dodgers (5-2) at Colorado (3-4)
When: Friday, April 5th, 2019
Where: Coors Field,
Denver, Colorado
Time: 4:10 ET | TV: SportsNet L.A.,
AT&T Sportsnet-Rocky Mountain
Opening Odds: Los Angeles -118/10.5

The Los Angeles Dodgers bring their high-powered offense into Coors Field Friday to take on a Colorado Rockies team that has really struggled at the plate through the first week of the season. L.A. played their first seven games at home, going 5-2 while setting a franchise record by homering at least once in each contest. The Dodgers own an MLB-best 18 dingers on the season through Wednesday’s action and first baseman Cody Bellinger boasts five of them. Los Angeles has scored 49 runs in their five victories, while sitting atop the NL West standings, but now will play the next seven away from home beginning Friday. The Rockies are near the bottom of all offensive categories and are hitting just .197 as a team after playing their first seven on the road. Colorado started out with a 6-3 and 6-1 win over Miami, but have scored a total of five runs in their last five and managed just two in a three-game series at Tampa Bay. Catcher Chris Iannetta homered in the top of the 11th inning Sunday to help snap the Rockies’ four-game losing skid. It was just Colorado’s second homer of the season. Third baseman Nolan Arenado has just two extra-base hits in 28 at-bats and no regular is hitting above .308 (David Dahl). The Dodgers won the season series 12-7 in 2018, then beat the Rockies 5-2 in the NL Wild Card game.

Pitchers: Dodgers – Kenta Maeda (1-0, 4.05 ERA) | Rockies – Tyler Anderson (0-1, 9.00)

The Dodgers made life easy for Kenta Maeda in his season debut by notching 18 runs in the victory over Arizona. Maeda allowed three solo home runs in 6.2 innings, while striking out six. He has done pretty well in spacious Coors Field, going 4-1 with a 3.19 ERA and faced the Rockies eight times in 2018 (three starts), compiling a 1-1 mark and 1.96 ERA. Maeda has limited Arenado to 3-for-24 with 13 strikeouts.

Tyler Anderson has some of the best numbers by a pitcher at Coors Field, as the 29-year old owns a 3.73 ERA there in his career. The lefty was not sharp in his season debut at the Miami Marlins, allowing five runs on nine hits in five innings or work. Anderson made five starts versus Los Angeles in 2018, going 1-1 with a 3.58 ERA. Justin Turner is 13-for-28 against him, but the Dodgers batted just .228 as a team versus Anderson last season.

The Dodgers have taken five in a row from Colorado including last year’s NL Wild Card game.

The Rockies are bound to break-out of their offensive funk soon, but until they do, I have to go against them. This Dodger offense is stacked and should have no trouble scoring runs this weekend.
