Likely National League Rookie of the Year, Cody Bellinger, came up huge when it mattered as the Los Angeles Dodgers head into Game 5 of the World Series with the Houston Astros all-square at two games apiece. Bellinger, who was 0-for-13 with eight strikeouts, doubled in the seventh inning then scored on a Logan Forsythe single to tie the game up at 1-1. Later in the ninth, with the score still knotted, Bellinger doubled in the go-ahead run to become the youngest player in World Series history to hit two doubles in one game. The 22-year-old’s second hit of the night sparked a five-run outburst, as Joc Pederson put the game away with a three-run blast later in the inning to put Houston behind in a game at home for the first time this postseason. The Astros, who managed only two hits while falling short of becoming the first team ever to win their first eight postseason games at home, face a monumental task of solving ace Clayton Kershaw on Sunday after the three-time Cy Young Award winner dominated them in Game 1. Alex Bregman provided Houston’s only offense with a solo shot off Kershaw in Game 1 and has driven in exactly one run in every game of this series. Game 4 was the first time in World Series history that both starting pitchers (Alex Wood and Charlie Morton) allowed four or fewer base runners.

Pitchers: Dodgers – Clayton Kershaw (3-0, 2.96 ERA) | Astros – Dallas Keuchel (2-2, 3.00)

Kershaw continued put his poor postseason struggles behind him with a dominant performance in Game 1, allowing only three hits while striking out 11 over seven innings. Kershaw, who won 18 of 22 decisions during the regular season, had gone 4-7 with a 4.55 ERA over his first 18 playoff appearances (14 starts).

NFL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

Dallas Keuchel dropped his second straight postseason start on the road in his head-to-head matchup with Kershaw in Game 1, allowing home runs to Chris Taylor and Justin Turner in the 3-1 loss. He allowed three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out three in 6.2 innings. The homers were the first two allowed in 24 postseason innings this season by Keuchel, who has allowed one run in 12.2 innings while winning his two starts at home in the playoffs.

The Dodgers finally solved Minute Maid Park and now are in control of the series with Kershaw on the mound tonight, and possibly two more games back in L.A. I’m not willing to anoint Kershaw a postseason master just yet. This is still a great hitting Houston team that plays well at home. Look for Keuchel to outpitch Kershaw in this one.
