Home teams have proved to be dominant this postseason, but none more than the Houston Astros, who can claim their first World Series in franchise history with two more wins at raucous Minute Maid Park. The Astros are already 7-0 at home in the playoffs and have outscored their opponents 36-10 in the process after last night’s 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the Fall Classic to take a 2-1 series lead. Yuli Gurriel’s homer to open a four-run Astros’ second inning chased starter Yu Darvish early, forcing the Dodgers to burn through their bullpen on Friday. It was the lone homer in Game 3 after the teams combined for eight in the epic 11-inning battle in Game 2 back in L.A. Several stars for both teams are struggling at the plate including NLCS co-MVPs Justin Turner (2-for-13, one homer) and Chris Taylor (1-for-9, one homer), while Astros star Jose Altuve (3-for-15, one homer) is also having a quiet series. Home Run Derby participant Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers struck out in all four at-bats on Friday and is 0-for-11 in the series. Houston RF Josh Reddick is 4-for-11 with a walk and three runs scored in the World Series after going 1-for-25 in the American League Championship Series against the Yankees.

Pitchers: Dodgers – Alex Wood (0-1, 5.79 ERA) | Astros – Charlie Morton (1-1, 6.23)

Lefty Alex Wood is making just his second start of the postseason as he gave up three runs (all on solo homers) and four hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings against the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS. Wood is pitching for just the second time in 31 days and the Dodgers could really use some quality innings from him to take pressure off the bullpen.

NFL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

Charlie Morton will make his fourth postseason start, but hasn’t lasted more than five innings in any of those while striking out 14 in 13 innings. The Astros were pleasantly surprised with Morton this season after he pitched only four games with Philadelphia last year and the veteran righty rewarded the team with a career-high 14 wins. He will be making his first World Series start.

I don’t care who’s pitching – the Astros at home are almost a lock right now. The Dodgers should be able to get to Morton, but the Astros will still outhit and outscore L.A. and take a commanding series lead.
