Many things have contributed to the St. Louis Blues winning the Western Conference and participating in a Stanley Cup Finals for the first time in 49 years. One of those things is their ability to win on the road (8-3). Playing at home is a different story and Game 3 Saturday night was their worst performance this postseason. The Boston Bruins converted all four of their power plays en route to a 7-2 victory to get within two wins of their first Stanley Cup since 2011 and the third straight for the city covering all four major sports. With Boston up 2-1, the series price has gone up to -325 at Bovada for the Bruins and +250 for the Blues. The total, which has gone over twice this series, has been bumped up a half-point to 5.5 for Game 4 Monday. During this postseason, the Bruins are a perfect 3-0 in game four situations, while St. Louis is 1-2. Boston now has 23 power play goals this postseason, which is second in team history, just behind the 24 they scored with the man-advantage in 1991. Defenseman Torey Krug made history in Game 3, becoming the first Bruins blue-liner to have a 4-point game in the Stanley Cup finals. Rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington – a Calder Trophy Finalist – was lit up for five goals on 19 shots and was pulled from the game for the first time in 52 starts this season. The teams will get an extra-days rest before Thursday’s Game 5.

Boston’s star players stepped up in Game 3 with Patrice Bergeron scoring a goal and setting up two others. Bergeron, who is a four-time Selke Trophy recipient, has an NHL-best seven power-play goals, leaving him two shy of the league playoff record (Mike Bossy, Cam Neely). Brad Marchand recorded his ninth power-play assist on Krug’s goal and David Pastrnak scored with the man advantage just 41 seconds into the second period for his eighth goal of the playoffs. Krug now has 16 points in 20 playoff games – that’s tied for first place among defensemen.

Vladimir Tarasenko saw his eight game point scoring streak come to an end in Game 3 and his 18 points overall this postseason is two back to leaders Marchand and Logan Couture. Forward Oskar Sundqvist served a one-game suspension for his hit on Matt Grzelcyk in Game 2 and is eligible to return to the lineup Monday. Forward Ivan Barbashev has collected four points (three goals, one assist) in his last seven games, but his team needs to cut down on penalties. Head coach Craig Berube doesn’t know what’s going on. “First of all, we were the least penalized team in the league in the first three rounds; now all of a sudden we’ve taken 14 penalties in one series,” Berube told the media on Sunday. While the Bruins’ power play continues to sizzle, the Blues have converted just one of their 10 opportunities in this series.

St. Louis is definitely a resilient group, but this Bruins team might be too much for them. Binnington looks like a rookie right now and it may be too late to get his confidence back. Tuukka Rask has been outstanding, stopping 164 of 168 shots in his last five road games. I took the Blues in the first three games, but I feel momentum switching here. I’m jumping on Boston for Game 4.

Pick: Bruins +100
