This is a classing example of the oddsmakers andbetting public overreacting to one weeks worth of results.Yes, the Seahawks swooped into the Big Easy last week and cameaway with a 21-7 win over the Saints as 3-point road chalk. Butthat result was as much about the Saints playing horrible (3 turnovers,68 penalty yards and countless mental lapses) as it was Seattleplaying well.
Holmgren definitely has a good team on his hands, but they are being WAY too over-hyped right now. Recall, the Seabirdswere a dismal 2-7 SU and 4-4-1 ATS when away last year. And quitehonestly, a single road-win vs. the self-destructing Saints doesnot have us convinced they should be laying a field goal vs. aTampa Bay team off a road loss. Especially with a gimpy RB inShawn Alexander (check status).
The Buccaneers without question looked poor intheir opening day 16-10 defeat against the Redskins. They finishedwith just 169 total yards, including a mere 30 yards rushing. But the Bucs may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrongtime. The return of Joe Gibbs to the Redskins, along with Portis,Brunell and others brought an optimism and energy to FedEx Fieldthat made for a very favorable environment for the home-standingSkins. We should mention as well that Washington looks like apretty darn good team. From a pure capping perspective, theseweek-one results couldnt have set up any better for backingTampa Bay as a home pup this Sunday.
Seattle is making their second cross country tripin two weeks and is likely very pleased with themselves at thispoint. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers return home at 0-1 SU knowingall too well that a 0-2 start lowers their playoffs percentagehopes immeasurably. Gruden is a tough-minded coach that will havehis team ready to bounce back and put in a good showing here.Note also that the mighty Bucs are an amazing 10-1 both SU andATS their past eleven as a home dog. The wrong team is favoredin this game and the Buccaneers will bring the soaring Seabirdsback to earth this weekend.
Early Prediction: Tampa Bay 22 Seattle20
