Both teams did well to escape their first matches without too many injuries as the only player expected to be missing is Australia’s Ivan Franjic. While this appears to be a lopsided match up, we must remember that Australia put up a strong performance against Chile and only gave up the 3rd goal in stoppage time at the end of the game. The Netherlands performance, while very impressive, is not one that is easily repeatable. It is possible that knowing they are up against lesser opponents than the last time out, the Netherlands will take a less aggressive approach and be happy with controlling the ball and the match.

All that said, this match should go the Netherlands way against an opponent who, while looking decent last match, we’re able to take advantage of their previous opponents weaknesses. Those weaknesses simply do not exist to be taken advantage of against this Netherlands team.
