The Houston Astros will look for a little more offense on Wednesday to back Justin Verlander when they take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 of the World Series at a warm Dodger Stadium. Dodgers’ ace Clayton Kershaw allowed one run and three hits with 11 strikeouts over seven innings and Justin Turner belted a tiebreaking two-run homer (his fourth of the postseason) in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory in Game 1. Kershaw had Houston hitters baffled all night and his quick work made it the shortest World Series Game in 27 years – 2:28. Turner has driven in a franchise-record 14 runs this postseason, and his 26 career RBIs match the club mark set by Hall-of-Famer Duke Snider. Chris Taylor led off the bottom of the first inning Tuesday by slugging the first pitch from Dallas Keuchel 447 feet over the wall in left field for his third homer of the postseason. Astros 3B Alex Bregman went deep for the third time this postseason to account for his team’s lone run in Game 1.

Pitchers: Astros – Justin Verlander (4-0, 1.46 ERA) | Dodgers – Rich Hill (0-0, 3.00)

Verlander, who is 4-0 this postseason, was acquired by Houston from Detroit in July, and now owns an 11-5 postseason record. None of those 11 victories, however, occurred in the World Series, where he went 0-3 with a 7.20 ERA in three career starts for the Tigers. Verlander has given Houston exactly what they needed – a second ace alongside Keuchel and a chance for them to claim their first title.

NFL FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS

37-year hold Rich Hill will get the nod in Game 2 and will be making his World Series debut. He is 1-2 with a 3.96 ERA in six career postseason starts. Hill is just happy to be in this spot after his major-league career appeared to be finished in the summer of 2015, when he signed with the independent Long Island Ducks, but 26 of his 50 career regular-season victories have come since then.

Verlander has been more than the Astros have expected – and those expectations were high – but if Houston can’t hit the baseball, it won’t matter what the former AL MVP does. Houston has scored just six runs in their last four postseason road games as their stars seem to be overwhelmed by the spotlight in both New York and Los Angeles. Maybe I’m wrong, but if there’s one lineup that can solve Verlander, it’s the Dodgers.

Pick: Dodgers -109
