Angels vs A’s Preview and Free Pick – April 28th, 2015 ]]> include($base_url . “/includes/header.htm”); ?>
After a winning six game home stand (4-3), the Angels of Anaheim visit the O.co Coliseum to take on the A’s. Oakland just got swept at home to the first place Houston Astros. No, that is not a misprint. Both the Angels and A’s are looking up at Houston in the American League West. The Angels have won 3 of 4 with their only loss coming Sunday in extra innings to Texas. They are only hitting .227 as a team so far and Albert Pujols has been dreadful hitting only .200 this season.
Jered Weaver takes the mound tonight for Anaheim and he has not been good so far this year. In four starts he’s 0-2 with a 5.24 ERA and 4 home runs allowed. His last outing was his best to date as he allowed only 1 run in 6 innings to the Oakland A’s.
Oakland has lost 4 in a row including that 3-game sweep to the Astros. Despite their 8-12 start, they’re hitting the ball well as they are ranked 6th in the majors in both runs scored and batting average. Their pitching is also near the top of the league with a 3.55 ERA. The problem is their defense right now. They have committed a league high 20 errors.
Tonight’s starter is Sonny Gray who has been brilliant in 3 of his 4 outings. He got shelled by Kansas City for 11 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings a week and a half ago. In his other three starts he has allowed only 2 runs total including a win at Anaheim just 6 days ago.
Pick: Angels +138
