|Suns Suffer Huge Blow Losing Amare Stoudemire to Injury
The Suns took a HUGE hit today losing Amare Stoudemireto a knee injury that was much worse than the Suns had originally though.
Amare went down for surgery today to repair the damage. The actual injury was said to be a joint surface defect and was notedas being approx. a centimeter in diameter.
The Phoenix Suns are saying that the 23 year old NBAsuper star will be out for around four months while he rehabs his knee. The injury will not affect his career and was considered minor relativeto long term effects.
Team dr. Thomas Carter called the procedure a “diagnosticsurgery.”
Stoudemire was very recently in the news for his hugesigning which put him under contract for 5 years at 73 million bucks.
The Suns had big hopes this year with their young squadseemingly all maturing as NBA players at one time which would have madethem a serious force for the upcoming 2005-06 NBA season. The injury willsurely put a damper on at least the first four months of their seasonas Amare is THE featured element of their high powered lineup on bothoffense AND defense.
Expect the Suns to still be a solid team though as theyhave quite a few weapons and should be able to stay “above water” in Stoudemire’sabsence.
