The Philadelphia 76ers have been whipping up on the rest of the NBA during their home games, but the road has been a different story. Philly will try and follow-up an impressive showing in Los Angeles and get back to .500 on the road when they take on the sizzling Golden State Warriors on TNT Thursday night. The 76ers dominated the Lakers under the ESPN spotlight Tuesday, as they toyed with a different offense in the 121-105 victory. Guard Jimmy Butler ran the offense from the point position, while Ben Simmons moved into the frontcourt and it seemed to work against the injury-plagued Lakers squad. The Sixers, who have won three of four, sit in the No. 3 spot in the Eastern Conference, a half-game ahead of the fading Pacers and 3.5 behind second-place Toronto. Golden State has been clicking on all cylinders with a fully healthy lineup by winning 11 in a row. The Warriors head home after sweeping a five-game road trip, capped by a 132-100 victory of Indiana on Monday, and seen unbeatable with DeMarcus Cousins in the lineup. Golden State has won each of the past 10 meetings with Philadelphia, but the Sixers have covered six of the last seven.

Philly will have one more game on the four-game trek after the visit to Oakland, then return home to play six of seven at Wells Fargo Center against some pretty solid teams. Butler seemed comfortable at the point position versus the Lakers, recording 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting, six assists and five rebounds in 29 minutes. Simmons, who is not much of a shooter, finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists while playing a team-high 37 minutes. Center Joel Embiid will have his hands full with the Warriors on Thursday and tuned-up for the contest by posting his 41st double-double the other night against the Lakers.

Golden State had no trouble with Indiana even with forward Draymond Green taking the night off to rest. Cousins stepped in and made 7-of-12 shots for 22 points against the Pacers and is averaging 15.2 points in the five games with his new team. Steph Curry needed only 13 shots to score 26 points while going 6-of-8 from 3-point range on Monday. The Warriors still maintain a one-game lead over the Denver Nuggets for the top spot in the West, but have a chance to build on that between now and the All-Star Break in a couple of weeks.

It doesn’t appear anyone is going to be able to stop this Golden State team in a seven-game playoff series, but they will get opponents’ best night-in and night-out. The Sixers are poised to take the next step to greatness and definitely have the offense to keep this game closer than double-digits. I’ll take the points here.
