The Boston Red Sox will host the LA Angels in a five gameseries for a chance to advance to the AL Championshipgame. The first two games of the series will take placeat Fenway Park.

The Boston Red Sox are the East Coasts best team thisyear after finishing first in the American League. TheSox bring in a team with plenty of playoff experienceand talented players. The Red Sox currently have the 4thbest ranked offense featuring the bats of David Ortiz(35HR, 117RBI), Mike Lowell (21HR, 120RBI), Kevin Youkilis(16HR, 83RBI) and Manny Ramerez (20HR, 88RBI). They alsohave three World Series Champion pitchers in Curt Schilling(9-8, 3.87 ERA), Tim Wakefield (17-12, 4.76 ERA), DaisukeMatsuzaka (15-12, 4.40 ERA) and Josh Beckett (20-7, 3.27ERA). Boston also has talented backup pitchers who cankeep opponents at bay after taking a lead late in thegame. The Sox will need a lot of support from other playersto get past a very talented Angels lineup.

The LA Angels are a team that can turn water into wine.Their team has many players that can knock teammates aroundthe bases at any time of the game. They’re gettingexcellent hitting from guys like Garret Anderson (16HR,80RBI), Gary Mathews (18HR, 72RBI), Orlando Cabrera (8HR,86RBI) and Vladimir Guerrero (27HR, 125RBI). The Angelsare ranked 2nd in stolen bases, during the regular season, with super fast runners like Reggie Willits and ChoneFiggins. The Angels also have a great pitching rotationwith guys like Kelvim Escobar (18-7, 3.40 ERA), John Lackey(19-9, 3.01 ERA) and Jared Weaver (13-7, 3.91 ERA). Onething that can hurt the Angels chances to get past theSox could be their lack of relievers.

The Cleveland Indians will host the NY Yankees in a fivegame series for a chance to advance to the AL Championshipgame. The first two games of the series will take placeat Jacobs Field.

Well the NY Yankees made the playoffs after posting thebest record in baseball after the All-Star game. Surprise! The Yankees bring in a roster that’s oozing with playoffexperience. Guys like Alex Rodriguez (54HR, 156RBI), JosePosada (20HR, 90RBI) and Robinson Cano (19HR, 98RBI) whomall combined for an average seven runs per game after theAll-Star break. Same goes for the Yankees pitchers. Pitcherslike Roger Clemens (6-6, 4.18 ERA), Andy Pettite (15-9,4.05 ERA), Mike Mussina (11-10, 5.15 ERA) all have postseason experience and hot shot Chien-Ming Wang (19-7, 3.70ERA) will get his first taste of the playoffs. They alsohave one of the best and most experienced closers in MarianoRivera. Johnny Damon and Jason Giambi need to pull up theirsocks and start chipping in to help out their teammatesget around the bases.

The Cleveland Indians worked hard after the All-Star breakto get them into the post season excitement. The Indiansbring in some talented pitchers like C.C. Sabathia (19-8,3.21 ERA), Fausto Carmona (19-8, 3.06 ERA), Paul Byrd (15-8,4.59 ERA) and Jake Westbrook (6-9, 4.32 ERA). The Tribedoesn’t quite have the bats the Yanks do but theydo have talent in Travis Hafner (24HR, 100RBI), Victor Martinez(25HR, 114RBI) and Grady Sizemore (24HR, 78RBI). The Indianshave a team with a good starters and a good bullpen withdepth but lack in hitting, power and speed. The Tribe wasspanked by the Yankees during the regular season, but theYankees never got a chance to face red hot pitcher C.C.Sabathia. He’ll get a chance to face the Yankees twiceduring their AL series, hopefully.
