A couple of old American League West rivals hook up when the Chicago White Sox visit the Texas Rangers for the opener of a four-game series Monday night in Arlington.
Chicago just took two of three games from Cleveland over the weekend, and remains in second place in the AL Central, 1 ˝ games back of the division-leading Detroit Tigers.
Texas just split four games with Boston over the weekend to end a 6-4 road trip. The Rangers still lead the AL West by two games over Oakland.
Texas took two of three games vs. the White Sox in the teams’ first encounter of this season earlier this month. And the Rangers won the season series with Chicago last year 6 games to 3.
The ChiSox are 14-14 on the road this season, 32-22 as favorites.
Texas is 15-16 at home this year, 17-18 as underdogs.
Chicago starter Contreras (6-0, 2.54) has allowed9 ER and 29 H+W in his last 19 IP. The White Sox are 6-4 in Contreras’starts this year, the over/under 3-6.
