Wasn’t it just a few years ago that the St.Louis Rams with Warner, Faulk, Holt and Bruce as well as a slewof other players looked like they were set to dominate the NFLfor several years to come. Then coach Dick Vermeil retired andMike Martz took over and while the next year they enjoy similarsuccess, the team then went on a steady decline and have struggleever since.

While change is necessary is any aspect of life,a team that loses five assistants, regardless of their talentpool, are primed for a letdown. Regardless of whether the newcoaches have been with the club, the voice that comes out of themouth is just not the same.
Highly acclaimed Offensive Coordinator Norm Chowis the latest Trojan to defect, as he is headed to Tennessee toassume their offensive coordinators position. It seems ratherstrange that Heisman winner Matt Leinhart would pass up a chanceto earn millions in the NFL to come back and play his senior seasonif he new that Chow was leaving. At 58 years of age and a heftypaycheck as well as a home on the ocean just minutes from work,it is perplexing that Chow would make a make a move across thecountry, to work for a team with a battered quarterback and allkinds of salary cap issues. This is a guy who has turned downseveral opportunities to work in the NFL, when he was in situationsa lot less lucrative then USC.
Also leaving USC is offensive line coach Tim Davis, defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, quarterback coach Carl Smithand grad assistant coach Dennis Slutak. The new offensive coordinatoris 29-year old Lane Kiffen whose father Monte is best friendswith head coach Pete Carroll.
Look for Chow to struggle at Tennessee and alsolook for there to be some peaks and valleys at USC next year!
