Steelers vs Saints Preview and Free Pick – October 31st, 2010 ]]> include($base_url . “/includes/header.htm”); ?>
The NFL saved the best game of week 8 for Halloween Night between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the defending Super Bowl Champs New Orleans Saints. The Super Bowl hangover has sure hit the Saints. They haven’t look invincible on offense so far this year and now they will face the best defense in the NFL. The Steelers are #1 in the NFL allowing only 13.7 points per game and are 3-0 on the road. The Saints have suffered two terrible losses in the last 3 weeks losing to Arizona and Cleveland. Drew Brees is completing 70% of his passes, but he’s thrown 10 interceptions this year. He only threw 11 all of last year. The defense has been better this year for the Saints. They are 3rd in yards allowed per game. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has been outstanding in his first 2 games back from suspension. He has 5 touchdowns to 1 interception and a sparkling 122.4 QB rating. I was a bit surprised to see the Saints only 1 point favorites in this one, but when you think about it, it’s probably about right. The Steelers are a popular betting team and the Saints just lost to the Browns at home. New Orleans is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games. The Steelers are a very good road team and the trends show it. They are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games as an underdog and overall they have covered 19 of their last 26 road games. I’ll take a chance with the Steelers tonight.
Pick: Steelers +1
