Baseball Betting

Baseball, it's the great American past-time.  It's also the greatest sport to win money at for the diligent gambler.  This article isn't going to be about what types of situations I look at in order to win at the rate I do during the baseball season.  It's not going to give you any new trends to look for in order to help you pick winners.  This article is strictly about opening your eyes as to how easy it is to win at baseball in comparison to football or basketball.

Reason No. 1 - Dimelines and 8-cent lines.  There aren't nearly as many sportsbooks that let you lay -105 juice on Football and Basketball as there are for Baseball.  That is essentially what the dimeline means.  On a neutral field with two neutral teams, you would lay -105/-105 on either team you pick.  That alone lowers the winning percentage you need to break even down to 51.2% from the standard 52.4% if you are laying -110!  And if you play at a sportsbook that uses 8-cent lines, you only have to win 50.98% of your games to break even!  This alone should show you that baseball is easier to win at, simply because you have to win 1.2% fewer times to show a profit, but it gets even better.

Reason No. 2 - Competing lines at different sportsbooks.  Having more than one sportsbook during the baseball season is even more important than having various accounts during the spread sports.   Think about this:  During the Basketball season you have two different sportsbooks, one has your team at +4.5 and the other has your team at +5.  You go ahead and take the +5 and watch your team win outright, how often does that .5 points come into play?  Now I'm fully aware of the advantage of getting the best lines even for football and basketball, but in baseball the advantage is significantly higher.  When you are shopping lines at different books for moneylines, you are talking about REAL MONEY and it comes into play every time you win!  Take a look, right now I am staring at 5 different sportsbooks the April 28th matchup, Florida at Colorado.  Book A has the Florida Marlins at -144 and the Colorado Rockies at +136.  I then look at TWO other books that have Florida at -160 and Colorado at +145!  You can take Florida at -144 and Colorado at +145 and you CANT LOSE!  Tell me how many times that happens in any other sport.  Now instead of a dime line with several different books you can get a zero line.  Obviously this situation is somewhat rare, but as I look down the line and today's games a 5 cent line is the average if you use competing books.  That lowers your expectation down to 50.6% in order to profit.  All the while you can sit and wait for a 'can't lose' situation like the one provided above.

The purpose of this article was to show the casual gambler just how easy it can be to win at baseball betting, and that is without any expertise in the sport!  Almost any handicapper worth his weight will tell you that baseball is the easiest sport for him to win money at.  Personally, I wager TWICE my normal amounts during the baseball season because I KNOW how easy it is to win.  Now get out there and build those bankrolls for football!
