The 2010 Monday Night Football season kicks off tonight at the New Meadowlands as the New York Jets play host to the Baltimore Ravens. The Jets were led last year by rookie QB Mark Sanchez and he took them all the way to the AFC Championship Game before losing out to the Colts. In reality, it was the Jets defense that got them 1 game away from the Super Bowl. They were number 1 last year allowing only 252 yards a game and only 153 passing yards a game. The Ravens were pretty good on defense as well, ranking 3rd behind the Jets and Packers. Offensively the Ravens were a little better than the Jets. Both posses excellent running games. Thomas Jones led the Jets last year with 1,402 yards but is now with the Chiefs in Kansas City. Shonn Greene will take over starting duties and will be backed up by veteran LaDanian Tomlinson. Baltimore is led by Ray Rice who had 1,339 yards last year on 5.3 yards a carry.

The Ravens offense should be even better this year with the addition of Wide Receivers T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Anquan Boldin. Baltimore will need them at their best tonight against the Jets secondary. It will be interesting to see how the rushing games fair against one another. The Jets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday Night games, and the Ravens are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 September games. I like the Ravens to control the game on offense and win outright.

Pick: Ravens +1.5
