The New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens are now down to a best-of-three game series in their first round matchup after the Rangers earned a long-awaited home victory on Tuesday to even the series up at two games a piece. The Rangers looked like a completely different team than the one that blew a two-goal lead in Game 2 and were outplayed throughout Game 3. They attacked consistently and while they sat back somewhat while protecting a one-goal lead in the third period, they did enough to force a slew of Canadiens icings while clogging the neutral zone. After getting off just 21 shots in Game 3 and 17 shots in the third period and overtime of Game 2, the Rangers hit Montreal goalie Carey Price with 32 in the Game 4 victory. Forward Rick Nash closed the regular season by scoring five times in his last eight games to finish with 23 goals and the momentum has carried over to the playoffs. Nash scored in the Game 2 loss and delivered the game-winning tally in Game 4, boosting his totals to seven goals and six assists in his last 13 playoff games. The Rangers should feel comfortable in the Bell Centre, as they led the league with 27 road victories during the regular season.

Montreal controlled play in winning Games 2 and 3, putting 87 shots on Henrik Lundqvist, but New York turned the tables in Game 4 and limited the Canadiens to a series-low 21 shots. Torrey Mitchell, who missed a breakaway chance on Lundqvist in the first period, netted his first goal of the playoffs just a short time later for Montreal’s only tally. Captain Max Pacioretty has scored at least 30 goals in four straight seasons and is still searching for his first of the series, managing only one assist through the four games. On Tuesday, head coach Claude Julien shifted Alex Galchenyuk to a line with Artturi Lehkonen and Alexander Radulov, who has six points in the last three games. Montreal has killed off all 12 power-play chances by New York in the series, but have just two of their own. Defenseman Alexei Emelin, who has yet to play in the series, practiced Wednesday and could return to the lineup in Game 5.

Rangers seem to be at home when playing on the road and I don’t think Montreal has enough offense to win this series. I’ll take the Rangers to win this game and clinch the series back home in Game 6.

Pick: Rangers +130
