The Cleveland Cavaliers look to keep the top spot in the conference standings when they host the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night. Cleveland has dropped four of their last five games including one of those to the Pistons in that stretch. The Cavaliers lead atop the Eastern Conference is down to two games over both Washington and Boston entering Monday’s action. Cleveland ended a 1-2 road trip with a 117-112 loss at Houston on Sunday after being outscored 32-19 in the third quarter. Cleveland’s defense has been torn apart by allowing an average of 113.8 points over the past six games and the Cavaliers had no answer for Houston star James Harden, who had 38 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds on Sunday. Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving recorded 28 points and eight assists against the Rockets, while LeBron James had 30 points, but turned the ball over eight times. Cleveland was dominated inside by Houston, being outrebounded by a 60-44 margin. Cleveland will entertain Utah on Thursday before heading back on the road for four straight.

The Pistons are surging toward the playoffs by winning four of their last five games and 12 of their past 18. They are currently in the seventh spot in the East, one game behind Indiana and 1.5 clear of ninth place Miami. Forward Tobias Harris scored a season-high 28 points in Saturday’s 112-92 win over the New York Knicks and has scored 20 or more points in three of the past five games. Harris lost his starting job six weeks ago and returned to the lineup for last Thursday’s 106-101 win over Cleveland. Star center Andre Drummond has recorded eight double-doubles in the past nine games after having 20 points and 16 rebounds against the Cavaliers and 24/15 versus the Knicks. Reggie Jackson has scored 20+ points three times in six March games but also has outings of eight and six points. The Pistons won the past two meetings after losing the previous five regular-season matchups.

The Pistons are playing well right now and usually give their best effort against the Pistons. After seeing what Houston did in the interior to Cleveland on Sunday, I’m thinking Drummond has a huge game. I’ll definitely take the points in this one.

Pick: Pistons +8
