The upstart Cleveland Cavaliers have a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference finals if they can get one more win over the Detroit Pistons in their conference semi-final series. The Cavs get a chance Friday night to do just that in front of the home crowd when they host the Pistons in Game 6 of this series, which they lead 3 games to 2.
The Cavaliers have battled back after losing the first two games of this series to win the last three games, including Game 5 in MoTown Wednesday night. The young Cavs, clear underdogs coming into this series, have held the Pistons to just 82 points per game in the last three games, and limited Detroit catalyst Chauncey Billips to 9 of 26 shooting over the last two games. Also, Detroit has committed an average of 17 turnovers over the last three games.
The Pistons are also just 13 of 43 from 3-point range over the last three games.
Detroit covered a 10-point spread in Game 1 of this series, but Cleveland has covered every game since. Also, the first two games of this series went over the totals, but the last three have stayed under.
The Cavaliers are 35-11 straight up at home this season, 26-19 against the spread. The Pistons are 28-17 on the road this season, 19-24 vs. the number.
The o/u is 20-24 in Detroit road games this season, and 19-27 in Cleveland home games.
Cleveland’s upset of the Pistons Wednesday night was the first time in this series the road team had won a game.
Detroit won the regular-season series between these two teams 3 games to 1, and all four games stayed under the posted totals. The o/u is 2-3 in this playoff series.
The status of Cavs guard Larry Hughes is still uncertain. Hughes is with his family following the death of his younger brother. But Cleveland has won the three games in this series Hughes has missed.
The total on Game 6 started out at 180, but has been bet down to 177.
If Detroit can stay alive and win Game 6 Friday night, Game 7 would be played Sunday back in MoTown.
