Orioles vs Red Sox Preview and Free Pick – April 17th, 2015 ]]> include($base_url . “/includes/header.htm”); ?>
After a day off, the Baltimore Orioles visit the Boston Red Sox for the first time this year. Baltimore is coming off a series win over the Yankees earlier this week scoring 16 runs in 3 games. Their offense currently ranks 6th in runs/game, 7th in batting average, and first with 15 home runs. OF Adam Jones has been leading the way with a .406 AVG and 4 HR’s.
Tonight’s starting pitcher is Ubaldo Jimenez. He’s coming off a terrific outing in his first game. He held the Blue Jays to only 1 hit in 7 innings of work while striking out 8. He is however coming off a bad season (6-9, 4.81).
The Red Sox enter tonight’s contest in 1st place in the American League East. They too have been pounding the ball scoring 6.22 runs/game which ranks 2nd in the majors. New acquisitions Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval have been fitting in nicely so far. Boston was only 8-11 last year against the O’s. A record they look to turnaround starting tonight.
Like Jimenez, Joe Kelly is coming off a brilliant first start holding the Yankees to 1 hit and 1 run in Boston’s 8-4 win on April 11th. This will be Kelly’s 12th start with the Red Sox after coming over from St. Louis in the middle of last year.
Pick: Red Sox -127
