The predicted 1 vs. 4 matchup between North Carolina and Wisconsin takes place tonight in Los Angeles’ Staples Center. The Tar Heels got here by holding off both Harvard and Arkansas. Marcus Paige scored 20 of his 22 points in the 2nd half of the Arkansas game to beat the Razorbacks 87-78. They forced 21 Arkansas turnovers and held them to 36.9% shooting including 8-25 from 3-point range.
The Wisconsin Badgers handled Coastal Carolina in Round 1 and then held off a pesky Oregon team 72-65. They are of course led by 7’0″ senior forward Frank Kaminsky. In their 2 wins he has scored 43 points on 16-27 shooting and has grabbed 19 rebounds. Sam Dekker has also contributed big with 37 points on 14-27 shooting including 7-16 on 3-pointers.
Wisconsin is a team that has it all. Maybe not enough to beat Kentucky (we’ll see), but certainly enough to handle an inconsistent North Carolina team. The Tar Heels will probably keep it entertaining for a while, but I believe the Badgers cruise in the 2nd half and win by 10.
PICK: Wisconsin -6
