If you are going to place a bet on Bodog’s MLB odds for this year’s All-Star Game, which is July 13 in Anaheim, you may want to lean toward the American League as the side to win. The junior circuit is on an unprecedented run of success in baseball’s Midsummer Classic, having gone unbeaten since the 1996 game. That’s not to say recent games haven’t been tightly contested, as the past four All-Star Games have been decided by just one run. Despite this 12-0-1 run by the AL, the National League still leads all-time 40-38-2.

The NL might have an advantage this season with such star pitchers as Colorado’s Ubaldo Jimenez, the expected starter, San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum, Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay, St. Louis’ Adam Wainwright and Florida’s Josh Johnson, among others. Will Nationals rookie pitcher Stephen Strasburg be a part of that group after just seven or so big-league starts in his career? The team will be announced on Sunday, July 4, and most fans want to see Strasburg in the game.

The AL has plenty of stellar pitching as well, led by Tampa Bay’s David Price, Seattle’s Cliff Lee and Boston’s Clay Buchholz (if he’s healthy enough to pitch in the game). The AL also seems to have a deeper group of hitters, and the designated hitter will be used this year with the game at Angels Stadium. Of course the winning league gets home-field advantage in the World Series. Bodog will have all the MLB betting lines a bettor can imagine for the lone baseball game on the schedule early next week. That includes one of the most popular MLB player prop bets: the All-Star Game MVP. Make sure you wager on a player from the league you think will win because one from a losing team hasn’t won the award since 1970. Tampa Bay’s Carl Crawford was the 2009 MVP, but there has never been a repeat winner at the All-Star Game. Can Crawford make history? You can bet on him with  Bodog’s All-Star odds.

Don’t forget you can also bet on the Home Run Derby with Bodog’s MLB player odds. Some big names like the Cardinals’ Albert Pujols and Rangers’ Josh Hamilton have said they won’t participate this year. Will Milwaukee Brewers slugger Prince Fielder defend his 2009 championship and become the Home Run Derby’s second-ever repeat winner? This event is always popular among Bodog’s MLB bettors on the Monday night before the All-Star Game.

There is no baseball action from Monday-Wednesday the week of July 12 – even the World Cup is over! — other than the All-Star Game and its events, so get all the MLB odds and props on the only game in town at Bdg, the industry leader for more than 15 years.
