Just want to wish everyone a belated Happy Holidays and happy, healthy, and successful 2009. My own personal New Year’s resolution is to cash more tickets in 2009 than in 2008. I imagine that would go for most of you as well.
2008 was arguably one of the greatest years in sports history with any number of great stories. It started right off the git go with Giants crashing the Pats perfect season. Spring saw Kansas and the Celtics win titles while Big Brown’s Triple Crown hopes go up in smoke at the Belmont. Tiger won a US Open for the ages but had to shut it down after blowing out his knee. The Nadal-Federer rivalry led off a summer that saw Michael Phelps and the “ Redeem Team” dominate the Beijing. The Phillies became the first sports franchise ever to lose 10,000 games but beat the upstart Rays to win the World Series. The Brett Favre/Packers saga kicked off football while Jimmy Johnson won his third straight Chase and the US Ryder Cup team punked the Euros. Yankee Stadium closed forever and much much more.
2009 has a lot to live up to. Below are my own personal Top Ten Stories of 2008. I’ll be going over each in some detail over the next few days, hopefully I haven’t missed anything too glaring or missed your favorite. Again, Happy New Year and have a healthy, successful, and profitable 2009.
