The Mitchell Company Tournament of Champions
Outright plays (1.5pts):
Hee-Won Han to win 16/1 e.w. @ Bet365 and BetInternet Trying not to side too much with players who have played in South Korea and Japan in the last two weeks, but Han is a player who has shown some form over the last two weeks without being in the tiring phase of contention. Before the international leg of the LPGA Tour, she had finished 1st, 4th and 15th in her last three starts and lowered her score in every round to finish 2nd last year and that was only via a playoff loss to Dorothy Delasin. With no Annika in the field, I would have expected shorter odds on Han. Cristie Kerr to win 16/1 e.w. @ Stan James, Bet365 and BetInternet Kerr did travel to South Korea and Japan and having withdrawn from two of her last five events with a shoulder injury, it is probably just as well. So, having finished 1st, 8th and 5th in her other events in the last two months, she should be counted upon to be very competitive if fit. She last played in this event on the Magnolia Grove course in 2002 when she was 3rd with one round to play. Although she faltered in the final round, there is still good reason to expect Cristie Kerr to at least secure a place finish if she is in contention this time around. Juli Inkster to win 25/1 e.w. @ Stan James, Centrebet, Bet365 and BetInternet A place finish has become something of a rarity for Inkster since she won the U.S. Women's Open. However, with finishes of 3rd and 6th in her last two starts, she may at least be finishing this season in good form. It will certainly help that she has not travelled in the last two months and while her form on this course is not too impressive - a best finish of 5th in 1999 - she did finally master this course over the weekend last year with rounds of 67 and 69. It should help her confidence in believing that she can be competitive on this course. |

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):
Hee-Won Han to beat Shi Hyun Ahn -115 @ Centrebet [3pts] Opposing Ahn was reportedly cracked a rib in South Korea two weeks ago and was forced to miss the Mizuno Classic. She may arguably be fit again, but if this were a normal Tour event rather than a limited-field, big-prize-money tournament then she would be expected to miss this week as well. Han is one of the outright selections for this event and should still prevail even against a fully-fit Ahn. (also available at Paddy Power) Cristie Kerr to beat Shi Hyun Ahn -126 @ Five Dimes [3pts] Same here. Kerr has finished ahead of Ahn in seven of their last ten common events, so should have done so again even if Ahn was not playing in discomfort this week. (also available at Nordicbet) Juli Inkster to beat Jennifer Rosales -110 @ BetInternet Backing the third outright selection in the matchups as well. As well as Inkster showing good form in her last two events, she has finished behind Rosales only once in their last eight common events. So with Rosales having never played in Alabama, let alone this course, this should not be such an evenly-priced matchup. Lorie Kane to beat Christina Kim -103 @ Five Dimes Kim's form has deserted her since winning the Longs Drugs Challenge in September. Her four finishes since that win have been wd, 11th (of 20), 46th and 61st. Kane played in three of those events and finished ahead of her every time and so with Kim having no course experience as well, the Canadian really shouldn't be the underdog in this matchup. Candie Kung to beat Christina Kim -108 @ Centrebet And likewise. Kung has finished ahead of Kim in each of her last three events and is even in better form that Kane - he has finished outside the top-20 just once since the Women's British Open. She has also played this course, so should prevail with ease. Grace Park to beat Lorena Ochoa -111 @ Stan James [3pts] These may be the top two players in this field, but it really shouldn't be close. In her last five starts, Park has finished 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 1st and 2nd, while Ochoa has managed just one top-3 finish in her last seven starts. Add in the fact that Ochoa has never played this course, wheras Park has been present for each of the last four years and these should not be evenly priced. (available at Five Dimes, Nordicbet, Expekt, Centrebet and Paddy Power) |

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -4.50pts
Han 6th Kerr 7th Inkster 16th Disappointing to get no return from this event's outrights. Inkster held a two-shot lead at one stage during the 2nd round and if Han hadn't bogeyed the last hole she would have finished in a tie for 3rd place. Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 5-1-0; +7.17pts Han/Ahn WON by 19 Kerr/Ahn WON by 14 Inkster/Rosales WON by 8 Kane/Kim WON by 4 Kung/Kim WON by 11 Park/Ochoa LOST by 3 Once again the LPGA matchups bail out the LPGA outrights!
