A Beginner’s Guide to Poker
Hi, I’m learning poker and so just making a few general enquiries for tips. I’ve been having poker nights with friends but being more/less all novices, they are slow moving and for all we know, we are practising mistakes! I’ve had the holiday to Vegas and have really been inspired. I know it sounds common place (you see Rounders and want to be that guy) but I have a mathematical background and so statistical application has always interested me. As has the money J As well as these poker nights, I’m also playing a fair bit of poker online which is helping me notice patterns in the good players and hone my own skills. What is the general opinion on the differences? I’m finding the online games are enhancing my skills much more rapidly than the nights with friends. It’s also giving me the confidence to apply what I learn in the manuals. Are there any good mags out there to read? Are there any clear mistakes that signal the red light on beginners – I’m hoping not to be taken advantage of! I’m also planning another holiday to Vegas. It will be with the family and so betting strictly minimum…but I do plan to have a whirl. Are the casinos there really just ones of fantasy, not for people taking it seriously or are there any particular places I should be visiting if I want to take things seriously (I don’t want to spend a couple of hours sat between tourist in baseball caps counting out pennies!)?
