2007 WSOP champion joins Gary Wise on Poker Talk
Jerry Yang, the 2007 World Series of Poker main event champion, will be Gary Wise’s guest on Poker Talk on RoundersRadio.com Wednesday night.
Yang, 39, who started playing poker just two years ago, currently ranks 8th on the all-time money list for live tournaments as a result of the $8.25 million he won at the 2007 WSOP. A native of Laos, Yang, nicknamed “The Shadow,” is a psychologist and social worker and is now based in Temecula, California. He earned a berth in the WSOP by winning a satellite tournament with a $225 entry fee at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula. At the 2007 WSOP in Las Vegas, Yang started eighth in chips and went on to knock out seven of eight players at the final table. Going against Tuan Lam, he won the title with 8♣ 8♦ against Lam's A♦ Q♦ when he hit a nine-high straight on the river after Lam had caught a queen on the flop. Yang, who is married and has six children, pledged to donate 10 percent of his WSOP winnings to three different charities – the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Feed the Children, and the Ronald McDonald House. Prior to the World Series, he had four cashes in local California events. Gary Wise is a poker historian and strategist who is a contributing writer for Bluff Magazine and ESPN poker. On his popular website, Wisehandpoker.com, Wise breaks down poker hands and explains certain poker strategies. One of Wise Hand Poker’s many features is Wise Hand of the Day, which breaks down some of the most famous poker hands throughout history. Poker Talk on RoundersRadio.com is streamed live at 8 pm ET Wednesday through Friday, and at 3 pm ET on Saturday and Sunday. -30- |
