SDSurfn's Thursday Night
Louisville -6.5 3 units
I wanted to get this one early before it hits 7, just to be safe. However, in a game of this magnitude, and in a game in which an argument can be made logically for either side, I believe the astute capper puts his money with the big time QB, and with the program that has played big games AND WON THEM. Louisville has both, Rutgers has neither. It's apparent that Brohm is back from his injury. After two mediocre showings v Cincy and Syracuse, he absolutely scorched the Mountaineers. With Brohm at the helm, I believe Louisville is good for at least 40 points Thursday. WV put up 34 against the Cards, but I don't think the Rutgers attack is quite as powerful as WV's, not with Teel at QB. I've watched Rutgers this year, and I congratulate them on their season. And I know what their defensive stats say. But I still think they have issues defending the pass. The kid from South Florida, Grothe, was 16 of 25 for 241 yards against the Scarlet Knights. And comparing the Louisville passing attack to South Florida's passing attack is like comparing a BMW M3 to a Ford Taurus. The bottom line is this. Brohm and Louisville will attack Rutgers through the air, and Rutgers just doesn't have the ability to counterattack. The Knights will score, because the Cardinal defense is, shall we say, less than stellar, but they won't keep up. Louisville knows what's at stake, they know how to win a big game, they know that many people are not giving them respect, they know many people would rather see a one-loss SEC team play the OSU-Mich winner. On Thursday night, they make their statement, "We belong in Glendale on Jan. 8."
