Just saw an interesting stat on sportscenter...
The home team has won 82.2% of game 7's in NBA history...an overall record of 74-20.
There were 2 game 7's this year, with the home team winning both in a laugher. Indiana beat Boston by 27 pts and Houston beat Dallas by 40 pts.
The line is currently Miami -2....you'd think it would be a bit higher given that stat because certainly the oddsmakers know this.
I know the uncertainty of D Wade plays a part in the low line, but it still seems rediculous that the game is pretty much a pick em given the history of home teams in game 7.
I personally still think the Pistons get WAY too much respect from their championship run of last year. The fact remains however, that Detroit beat up on a Lakers team last year that was vastly over rated, no one liked each other, and didn't play all that great as a team. Detroit did and they took care of the Lakers with relative ease.
Miami has plenty of talent, plays great team ball....and the guys seem to like each other and enjoy playing as a team too.
Miami should be at least -5.5 or -6 here IMHO....but if they're getting balanced action at -2, then I suppose -2 will do in the eyes of the linesmakers, lol
Now I look at the -2 as a joke and an easy winner, so of course I sit here having doubts weather I should play it or not, cause it looks TOO easy....but then again I thought the same of SA as a dog in game 5 at PHX and that turned out to be an easy winner.
Hmmmmm, lol....
Anyway, just wanted to point that stat out

Man, from browsing over the threads here, I now see why this line is so low....seems everyone loves Detroit.
Guys, Miami is the BETTER team here if D Wade is healthy. They've proven it all year and will prove it again tomorrow night if Wade plays, the same way SA proved to PHX who was the best team in that series. Miami has basically controlled this series until they had to play a game in Detroit without Wade, and I see no reason why anything would change in game 7 if Wade is able to play.
If he's out, of course it's an entirely different story all together, but from what I am hearing, he plans on playing.
There's no reason Wade won't play--even if that hump's on crunches! Miami is the better team. I don't like either side, even though I think Miami wins--but "thinking" doesn't win me money, so I took the UNDER. Should be plenty of defense.

yeh some ugly half-court O's goin' on throughout series with a sparkle of some up-tempo on loose balls, and steals, but only a smidgen.
I think its setting up to be a somewhat "Willis Reed" moment tomorra night.
I agree though I think the Pistons getting way too much respect, not as deep, and have to get their heads out of their butts too many times this playoffs when they shouldve at least swept one series.
sigh well GL to whatever you guys decide to play.:gulp:

Favs have won every game this series!
The guy that loves to play favs and overs in all TV games that I sometimes talk about! Well I saw him today and asked him who he liked......I almost fell over when he said Detroit and the under! I said WHAT ARE YOU FUCKEN KIDDING ME! Mr. Fav and overs is going to take a dog and under. Than he asked me who I liked, I told him Miami and the over........ He laught and said well than I love Detroit and the under!!! This coming from a guy who has lost over 50K betting on favs and overs. Key here is he only bets on games that are on TV!!!! As long as they don't black this out I think we will be Ok! I told him that Mr. Shack-A-FOO-FOO promised the city of Miami a title win. He just laught and said in his little oriental little voice "Broottthhher"
To fucken funny!!!!

actually, in the two game 7's already this year, home teams were 1-1. Indiana romped over Boston in Boston. And Boston wasn't missing their best player. Maybe check that stat again :beer2:

Quotes from around the net
DET/MIA GAME 7 = GAME OF THE YEAR DET +120
DET +2
TAKE THESE TO THE BANK $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Detroit+2 Under 177
My logic, which is assuredly flawed, is that the Pistons will guard Wade nicely, and that he won't be great with his injury. Low scoring game.
Game Seven Pistons ML +105
IMO, Pistons are the better team in this series. Each time they needed to reach down for a "must win (Game 4 IND, Game 4 & 6 MIA), they have done it. Alot of speculation about whether or not Dwayne Wade will play, Heat looks lost w.out him. Detroit turns up the defense and pulls the "upset".
Can Miami win gm 7 without Wade??? Before this game I would have thought they could..........but after watching them tonight without him I just dont think anyone else can put up decent #'s besides Shaq.............even if Shaq scores 40 they are going to have to have someone else step up. I am not so sure they have another player to have a good game maybe Damon Jones????
I DONT THINK THEY WILL WIN WITH WADE.

I was just going by the stats they had on ESPN.
If the Indiana game 7 rout was in Boston, which now that I think about it I do believe it was, statistically and historically it makes the Miami play even stronger.
I REALLY REALLY thought EVERYONE would be on Miami tonight when I saw that low line....currently I see 61% on Detroit +2 and a whopping 73% on Detroit ML. When the public opinion is on the dog, on the road, in game 7....I like my chances with Miami.
Detroit is not a better team than Miami this season. Seems everyone is under the blind assumption that THIS Detroit team is the SAME team that won the finals last year....but it's not. They lost a few key role players from that squad, and that can make all the difference.
Detroit still a good team, but they're very overvalued here because they're last year's champs....and the books don't give a poop cause everyone's hitting Detroit anyway.
BB - LOVE those quotes you found. Makes me feel even better yet about Miami!
As long as I'm able to get the confirmation that Wade is IN, and I mean IN...as in for the whole game, not 2 mins here and there, Miami -2 it is

not trying to bash you at all her stif, but how can you say miami has controlled the series? when detriot won 2 games with wade playing and a free bee when he wasnt playing. i dont think by any means has miami been in control and although i do think they pull it out tonight, wade wont be affective maybe scoring 15 points and most of them from the foul line im sure. sorry for going off but i just disagree.

It's cool. Of course not everyone is going to always agree. Miami would have won this in 6 had Wade not gotten hurt though IMO. Don't let that blowout in game 6 fool ya....
Detroit won game 1 in Miami, which often happens when a team is off a sweep and is rusty after not playing for a week or more.
But then after that it was all Miami except for a must win game 4 in Detroit and a joke of a game 6.
Miami took games 2 and 3 when they needed em, one at home and one in Detroit. Game 3 was pivotal because it gave Miami the homecourt advantage back, and Miami was able to take it.
Detroit absolutely needed game 4 and they got it at home.
Then when it shifted back to Miami, Miami took the series advantage back in game 5, even playing some of that game without Wade.
Game 6 was a joke and doesn't count IMO.
After taking game 1, Detroit has been looking up at Miami for this whole series at 2-1 and 3-2. That is why I say they have controlled the series.
Miami has won every game they needed to win, and I don't see why this game will be any different tonight on their home floor.
Detroit nor anyone else without a whistle can stop Shaq when the role players around him are doing their jobs, and I am fully confident that Miami's role players will do just fine tonight.

I doubt anyone should consider what happened in any game prior to the last game. If Wade couldn't play Saturday I don't see how he would be any better only 2 days later. He shot airballs on 12 foot jumpers during warmups Saturday. Wade is the one player Miami cannot afford to lose and his ailment is the worst type possible short of losing a hand after being caught stealing in Turkey, lol. How's he going to be jumping up or slamming the ball with sore abdominal muscles?
If I told a group of people after the game that the winner won by 10 points, 4 out of 5 people would say it must have been Detroit. If Miami wins they will just squeak by, I'm surprised Detroit is not the favorite tonight. I don't know who will win but Detroit is more likely to at least be competitive and their defense will keep them in it. Don't forget Shaq's not healthy either.

With all do respect to Mia bettors, a rib cage injury is a BEAST. Trust me, Im living proof as Ive got one from a rollover accident from over 2 yrs ago and I have problems sitting, standing, working out, screwing (pulling my pud too)
I cant even fathom playing Wade style bkb with a rib injury.
I think Detroit has a real good shot of winning this one. The good ol' home court adv. will keep it close though regardless. I like Det here despite their inability to score at times. Mia looked like SHEIT without Wade on the floor last game and were exposed.
Who knows how bad Wades rib is though. The Saturday pregame airballs kinda tell me my benjamins all they need to know though. Dude pulled himself from a playoff game then DIDNT PLAY THE NEXT GAME in what may be a once in a lifetime experience. He's hurtin'.
Not a sure thing by any means, but Det gets my loot.
There's only one sure bet tonight:
Over 10.5 beers -300!

Dimes have been flying in on that over 10.5 -300. Line has moved to -13.5 -225

"outhustled" by Eldon Campbell??? That is like getting outhustled by dirt !!!
In truth, if Miami wins, it will be a remarkable feat, as 40 per cent of their starting line up, and that 40 per cent is O'Neal and Wade, is hurt.
I hope they don't win, as I have a unit on Detroit, but if they do, hats off to em, they will have earned it.:gulp:

Well, congrats to everyone other than me, lol
Miami really blew that game in the 4th when they were up 6 and had a gazillion chances to get it to 8.
Wade WAS the difference in the game too. As soon as he "got it going" in the 3rd, Miami caught up and took the lead. Then he couldn't do shit in the 4th again and eventually Miami was unable to hold the lead and lost. Not sure if he was held back by the injury or if he just sucked. I have no doubt Miami would have taken that one with a healthy and effective D Wade.
That being said, maybe I should have layed off that one with Wade's status and how effective he'd be uncertain, but I really thought he would do better for the whole game, not just part of one quarter. Oh well.
I just really hope SA makes short work of Detroit in the finals, cause I'm really really really sick and tired of these moron announcers calling em the defending champs like it's a boxing match or something :puke:
I also may be finished with hoops for the year now. I think i'll just take my +2.5 units or whatever it is and go home. That loss just disgusted me to the point where I don't even feel like watching another basketball game until next year.

been healthy, different outcome MG. He is, by far, the MVP of that team. Shaq was injured but...he misses free throws when healthy.
Gotta like SA, which always benefits from being underestimated. Will look at matchups later, much later, but a rested SA in game one.Detroit was no fluke last year though. :gulp: :gulp:

Betting the nba is like sex. Once its over you dont wanna do it again but once you get some sleep and the pregame (foreplay) nears, we'll all be right there trying to break it down! See you before game 1 stif!
