Scottish 1st Division

From BBC Sport:

Falkirk v St Johnstone (1st place Falkirk host 5th place St. Johnstone)

Falkirk are within three wins of clinching the championship and have a near full-strength squad as they entertain St Johnstone.

Pedro Moutinho remains sidelined, but fellow striker Darryl Duffy returns from injury.

Saints have been hit by a spate of injuries to key players.

Defenders Kevin Fotheringham and Kevin Rutkiewicz, plus midfielders David Bagan and Paul Bernard, are ruled out, while striker Chris Hay is doubtful.

St Mirren v Raith Rovers (3rd place St. Mirren host last place Raith - Raith winless on the road this season)

St Mirren welcome back Stewart Kean from injury, but fellow striker Mixu Paatelainen is sidelined as they entertain relegated Raith Rovers.

Defender Laurie Ellis is struggling with a knock, while midfielder John O'Neill is suspended.

Rovers player/coach Shaun Dennis sits out the trip to Paisley along with midfielder Paul Millar.

But manager Gordon Dalziel is unlikely to stray far from the side that took a point from leaders Falkirk.

English Premier League

From SKY SPORTS:

Newcastle vs Aston Villa (10th place Newcastle host 11th place Aston Villa)

Newcastle host Aston Villa buoyed by Alan Shearer's decision to delay his retirement from Premiership football.

The St James' Park faithful will be sure to give their legendary captain a rousing reception as he attempts to inspire The Magpies to continue their recent run of tremendous form.

Under Graeme Souness, Newcastle are unbeaten in 12 games in all competitions, and still have an outside chance of securing a European spot for next season.

David O'Leary's Villa side are currently on equal points with their opponents on Saturday, although they are stalling in recent weeks and have lost four of their last seven league games.

Souness still has to cope with reduced options at the back as central defender Titus Bramble is out with a groin complaint and Celestine Babayaro is still missing due to a knee injury.

Robbie Elliott could make the squad after appearing for the reserves in midweek, and keeper Shay Given has shrugged off the hip injury that troubled him against Portsmouth.

Young striker Shola Ameobi may feature after struggling with a hip problem, although he will have to force out Patrick Kluivert, who is back from a knee knock, for a starting berth

Villa winger Nolberto Solano recently denied that he was eyeing a summer move to Newcastle, and he will be denied an emotional return to St James' after his international midweek efforts with Peru.

Midfielder Ulises de la Cruz will also sit out after also making the long trip to South America to link up with the Ecuador squad.

After employing Luke Moore as a lone striker last time out against Birmingham, O'Leary now faces an attacking selection dilemma.

Juan Pablo Angel is available after recovering from an ankle problem, although may not be match fit, whilst Carlton Cole and Darius Vassell are also in contention.

Welsh stopper Mark Delaney is also ready for a recall after appearing for Wales despite being sidelined since January with a knee injury.

Skysports.com Prediction: 2-0
Inspired by Shearer's decision, Newcastle will continue their fantastic recent form.

Southampton vs Chelsea (1st place Chelsea visit 17th place Southampton)

Southampton face a tough task in continuing their run of good form under Harry Redknapp as they host Chelsea in the late kick-off on Saturday, live on Prem Plus.

The Saints have only just managed to climb out of the relegation zone, and take on a Chelsea side currently 11 points clear at the Premiership summit.

Jose Mourinho will be looking for his side to affirm their footballing qualities after a week dominated by adverse disciplinary headlines for the club and their engaging manager.

However Mourinho will have to do without two of his key players after they sustained injuries whilst representing their international sides.

Magical winger Arjen Robben has been ruled out for a month after sustaining an ankle injury, having just returned from a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

This latest blow to the former PSV Eindhoven man gifts Joe Cole the chance to impress again in a forward role, after encouraging performances for club and country in recent weeks, and Geremi will also miss out with a hamstring injury.

Right back Paulo Ferreira has broken the fifth metatarsal in his right foot although is expected to return before the end of the season, and Glenn Johnson should fill in for the Portuguese international.

Mourinho is expected to lead the attack with Didier Drogba, whilst John Terry, William Gallas and Ricardo Carvalho will line up alongside Johnson at the back.

Redknapp will be looking for Peter Crouch to continue the sensational form that has seen him claim 13 goals in 18 games, after tipping the tall front man for an England call-up.

Long-term absentees Michael Svensson and Jelle van Damme will both miss out, whilst Marian Pahars is still awaiting the chance to make his reserve comeback before stepping up to the first team.

Claus Lundekvam should play after returning from international duty with Norway, and Henri Camara is expected to replace Kevin Philips up front.

Skysports.com Prediction: 1-3
Chelsea continue their relentless charge to the title with a comprehensive win.

German Bundesliga I

From EUROSPORT:

SC FREIBURG (18) v HAMBURG SV (7)

Freiburg have lost their last five matches and remain 12 points away from safety. The midweek internationals have proved costly for both teams with Freiburg's Georgian central defender Otar Khizaneishvili picked up a knee injury, while Hamburg's Dutch defender Khalid Boulahrouz strained his thigh warming up in Armenia.

ARMINIA BIELEFELD (12) v BAYER LEVERKUSEN (6)

Bielefeld, who have lost their last three matches, are drifting towards the relegation zone. They will be without Polish defence duo Tomasz Wisio and Daniel Bogusz. German right back Patrick Owomoyela is suffering from an ankle injury and striker Delron Buckley has a swollen knee.

Leverkusen, still in the hunt for a Champions League spot, welcome defender Juan back from injury.

WERDER BREMEN (4) v VFB STUTTGART (3)

This is a key match for the third Champions League qualifying berth, with only a point between the sides.

Bundesliga champions Werder will be without defenders Petri Pasanen, who has the flu, and Umit Davala, due to hearing loss.

Stuttgart, on a three-match winning streak, will have to do without suspended right back Andreas Hinkel and central defender Fernando Meira.

SCHALKE 04 (2) v FC NUREMBERG (14)

Striker Gerald Asamoah returns for Schalke, who lost the chance of going top last time out with a 2-1 loss at Mainz.

Nuremberg, who have scored at least once in every away game, travel without injured strikers Markus Schroth and Robert Vittek and midfielder Pekka Lagerblom. Playmaker Ivica Banovic is suspended.

English Conference League

From BBC SPORT:

Northwich v Barnet (1st place Barnet head to 20th place Northwich)

Northwich boss Steve Burr has new faces goalkeeper Kris Rogers and midfielder Francis Tierney available.

Mark Devlin is back in contention after serving a suspension but Kieran Charnock (hamstring) is a doubt.

Barnet manager Paul Fairclough may name an unchanged side, with recent signing Patrick Ada again on the bench.

The Bees have been in impressive form of late, winning their last five consecutive matches while conceding just one goal.

Farnborough v Carlisle (3rd place Carlisle head to 21st place Farnborough)

Midfielder Jimmy Turner is doubtful for managerless Farnborough and will have a late fitness test on his ankle.

Scott Canham - who took charge of training on Thursday - and Lee Miles both return after recovering from flu.

Carlisle boss Paul Simpson will stick with the same squad that beat Halifax 1-0 for the trip to Cherrywood Road.

That means Kevin Henderson (hamstring) and Kieran Westwood (bruised ribs) will miss out, while Chris Beech (ankle) remains sidelined.

hey corey,
Out of them games, Which one do you feel really confident about??Thanks

Doc - I really like them all and it's hard to pick out one over the other. These are my feelings on all the games with exception of the German Bundesliga I and English Premier League cause I feel those are explained pretty well in those previews. By the way this is in no particular order. I hope this helps a bit and I wish I could be of better help in picking them.

Carlisle (-225) - Reasoning is pretty simple. Farnborough has lost 13 of last 15 matches while Carlisle has won there last 5 in a row. 1st meeting at Carlisle...Carlisle won 7-0.

Barnet (-121) - They are the runaway champs of the Conference league. Barnet winners of last 5 while Northwich are losers of last 5. Barnet won 1st meeting 4-0 at home.

St. Mirren (-225) - Raith is 0-12-2 on the road this season. Although Raith did come up with a miraculous draw against 1st place Falkirk at home last week. 3 meetings so far between these two with St. Mirren winning at home 1-0 but split the two on the road winning 3-0 but losing 2-0. I guess a little of a ? mark.

Falkirk (-165) - Falkirk are the leaders of there league and except for a dissapointing draw against the worst team in the league last week they are well on there way to the Premier League next season. Looking for a nice bounce back match here and St. Johnstone have been hit with some injuries.

Rennes (-180) - Rennes is 11-2-2 at home this season. Bastia 0-10-4 on the road. Rennes has been dynamite at home this season. They've put a strong effort into home games which makes me like it. But if there is a league to stay away from it's the French. To little scoring and alot of unexpected results.

Sparta Prague (-1) (-111) - Sparta is the dominating force in the Czech Republic. Big handicap here as they need to win by 2 goals to win this bet. They should win which would at least give the push. First meeting at Sparta...Sparta won 4-2.

Brondby (-215) - 1st vs 2nd. Midtjylland hasn't been the same since losing there best player to the German league during the break. Brondby has tied there last two matches and can ill afford to keep dropping pts. Brondby won the only meeting so far this season 2-1 at home.

Club Brugge (-165) - Time for Brugge to step up and start playing consistent soccer or otherwise Anderlecht will catch them here. It looks like Brugge should be ready for this match. Just a good price on a team that is traditionally well over 200 in every one of there matches. 1st meeting Brugge won 2-0.

FC Moscow (-145) - Odds have supposedly dropped in Russia with FC Moscow being around -200. Just the 3rd game of the year but Moscow is the better team.

Torpedo/Alania Over 2.5 - Torpedo has combinded for 7 goals in there 2 games while Alania has given up 5 w/o scoring.

Independiente (-133) - I can't give you much reasoning with the exception that Gimnasia is a weak team and should struggle in this match. Independiente hasn't played there best yet but they should manage a good result here.

Ok I've decided to add another unit to Carlisle (making the adjustment above). I just don't see them losing. Big price but I think they should win that match. Farnborough has been awful of late.
