Real Madrid (-0.5) - Juventus (+0.5) . 1 . 2.11 . . 6/10 Not a sponsor of this site you can not mention it!!!!
Clash of the titans! This match for sure will add another chapter to a great history of epic encounters between these two teams. A great match to watch for sure but many would also add that it's not a good match to bet on? I don't think so...
Firstly, lets forget for a while about probable lineups for this match, injuries and current form and concentrate on something that already at first glance proves that these odds have value. Overall, Real have hosted italian opposition 23 times, winning 19 times, losing 2 times and only 2 of those matches ended with a draw. On the other hand, Juventus won twice in Spain, drawn four times and lost the remaining eleven matches. Looks pretty simple? Historic background is important, but of course we can't base our bet only on that. Anyway, there are many more reasons to bet on Real this week.
Yes, Real lost to Athletic Bilbao at home this week but it looks like this defeat was affected by the fact that Ronaldo, Raul and Zidane all were rested and entered the pitch only for the last 30 minutes. Moreover, it looked like the players were already focused on the match against Juventus and let the team from Bilbao escape with 3 points from Santiago Bernabeu. Anyway, before that match, Real was on a 7 match winning streak in league. Some people still critizise them, saying that the style in which they got all those victories wasn't convincing, but still 7 wins in a row in such a strong league are impressive. On the other hand, Juventus just spoiled their lead over AC Milan in Serie A and lost the first place in the league. It looks like after a great start of the season the second part doesn't look promising for them. Most of you probably remember their 1-0 streak, but now it looks like often they've got problems with scoring the winning goal and also their defence isn't as solid as it was just a couple of months before... For me, Real is the side which is in clearly better form at the moment, boosted by their new coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo and for sure they're looking forward to playing a great match against Juve to prove the fans that the lose against Bilbao was just an accident.
All Real players are fit in front of this match so we can expect that hosts will field a very strong lineup. Juventus, on the other hand welcomes back Pavel Nedved which will enable them to get back to 4-4-2 strategy, but the team from Turin will be without Trezeguet.
All in all, such matches rarely produce surprises. Real should control the match, and win it with a short goal margin. Juventus will probably aim for a draw, but a 1-2 or even 0-1 defeat won't be a distaster for them neither. It's hard to predict which team will go through to the next stage, but it's a lot easier to predict the favourite of the first match and the odds on Real's win are good enough to risk a medium stake.
Probable lineups:
Real: Casillas; Salgado, Helguera, Samuel, Roberto Carlos; Beckham, Gravesen, Zidane, Figo; Raśl, Ronaldo
Juventus: Buffon; Zebina, Thuram, Cannavaro, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Emerson, Blasi, Nedved; Del Piero, Ibrahimovic

Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen
Liverpool will miss Steven Gerrard, Mauricio Pellegrino, Fernando Morientes, Xabi Alonso, Chris Kirkland, Djibrill Cisse (but that's not new) and Sinama-Pognolle (longterm injury too). Also Neil Mellor is having problems with knee injury and is doubtful. What does it mean? Let's start...
Dudek in the net. He is great goalkeeper, but I think he has problems with pressure. He plays well in matches for nothing, but when it cames to important games, he often disappoints. And I doubt Carson's debut tomorrow is even an option. With probably defensive line of Finnan-Hyypia-Carragher-Traore, we can expect many mistakes especially from Traore. He is scapegoat for Rafa Benitez, fans and some teammates. And Benitez has no other option really, as Vignal left to Rangers, Pellegrino is cup-tied and rest of guys are junior level (David Raven, 3 first team games; Zak Whitbread, 4 first team games) besides wing back Warnock. In midfield we are expected to see Riise, Biscan, Hamann and Vladimir Smicer. There are doubts about Smicer, as he can play in attack if Kewell will be in midfield. However, there is no guy who can create anything. Biscan is more defender than midfielder and he is destruction guy. Riise is mroe wing back than winger too. Hamann... I remember him from game with Soton, when Pool lost and German was on the field only with his body, while his spirit was somewhere else... Only quality guy on bench is Antonio Nunez, as John Welsh and Darren Potter lack international experience. And in attack, I am afraid Baros will be left alone. Baros shined in one or two games from Pool this year, but he needs to get passes! Luis Garcia isn't showing anything special, Mellor is wooden dude, who has no skills, only good height and atheticism and Le Tallec was more Houllier's toy and he is not liked by Benitez.
And it may sound like heresy and blasphemy, but I dont see Rafa as expert coach! Sure, he won La Liga with Valencia, but check out squad he had, form of players and that he came after Cuper! Now it Pool he shows real face.
Stats doesnt matter in CL, form and style matters and Reds can't show anything now. Players, who are heart of this team are out and Pool will suffer to get anything but draw today.
Bayer... Bayer rocks in Bundesliga losing only to inform Munich and winning all three other games with impressive 10-2 goal record. They have very potent offense line with Krzynowek, Freier, Berbatov, Voronin and Robson Ponte. However, with Nowotny gtting injury last game (probably knee that can end his career) and Roque Junior being long-term injured, Levekusens defence got very short suddenly. Still, Juan, Placente and Schneidder should be enough and only problem might be unexperienced Callsen in the middle of defence. But with defensive midfielder such as Ramelow, I think there is no worry about it, especially since there is no real threat besides Baros from Reds side. Freier and Krzynowek flipping sides couses confusion and don't think Traore (or Warnock) can stop Krzynowek, who is in great shape. Same goes for Berbatov and Robson Ponte, who came back from injury.
I suggest to stake high on Liverpool with 2.10 8 units!
