Don't post much here but enjoy the College hoops rhetoric.
As with all of us players, our problem is we just play too many games. Too bad there are not games like this on the board every night.
Being a gamecock, i have watched this overacheiving team all season. This team has simply run out of gas and has typically digressed under Coach Dave Odom. It really isn't his fault, however. The team has no inside presence, as 6-7 "swingman" Carlos Powell is the team's quasi Center.
When the Gamecocks play a team with good perimeter defense, they really struggle to put points on the board as they really rely on the 3 point shot for thier offense.
Kentucky, on the other hand, has really turned into an elite team in the country, in my opinion. They are so much more talented than the gamecocks and come in full of confidence winning 9 straight overall, and 5 straight on the road. The gamecocks just fell to Auburn at home and have reached desparation mode. Some may see how we played them tough at Rupp and think we could pull off the upset at home. NO way. Tubby always does great job the second time he sees a team in the same season and will adjust to our small ball and smother the gaurds on the perimeter.
The game is also on national TV, the first for USC this season. We have a history of falling flat on the big stage. If you watch the game tonight, you might think it is a Kentucky home game as USC attendance has been down and the "Blue Wave' travel like no one in the country. This scenario has played out the last two seasons with these results in Columbia
2004
KENTUCKY 84 (-1.5)
USC 65
2003
KENTUCKY 87 (-4)
USC 69
I realize every season and every team is different, but it looks way too familier to this guy.
Kentucky going away......
