These were grown men who I nor my grandmother had never met and they were openly weeping at the gravesite! I stood frozen during the reading while Taps and the rifle salute played in the background! It gives me chills just writing about the experience! It opened my eyes to soldiers and the sacrifice and brotherhood they endured for our freedom!

...and I miss that old man to this day! He would let me sit on the back of the riding lawnmower with him! That was big livin' for a 7 year old kid from Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga!!!

I might not understand the law but I can break it with realitive ease............:dunno:

Nigel Tufnel

For what its worth, Ute...if you have a good network in the legal field (family member or friends), and you can get hooked up with a good job out of school....go for it. Or, on the other hand, if you are a genius and can finish in the top 5% of your class, you'll be fine. Problem is...lawyers are a dime a dozen. If you intend to work at a big law firm, you'll make good money...but you'll be putting in 90 hours a week. Fuck that...I've got a wife and kid and I'm not going to wake up one day and realize I've spent my entire life working. Even if that's your bag (working 90 hours and making the big bucks), you'll soon be paid too much money for the bosses...you'll become absolete. Why pay you all the money when they can get two whiz kids straight out of law school and pay them the same thing they're paying you for twice the manpower?

If you can find a job in a small town, you won't make as much, but you'll probably be happier.

I do mainly domestic relations...I've got to deal with good people at their worst...and bad people at all time lows. Fighting over kids, etc...it can get to you after a while if you have a conscience. I've often thought about getting out. I wasn't being paid well enough for the shit I had to endure...but I was just made a partner, and its a little easier to swallow knowing I'll be sharing in the kitty at the end of the year...plus I got a nice bump in pay.

I guess there are worse things in life....I'm just the type of person who, for some reason, thinks I should like my job...but when I think about it, who the fuck do I think I am? Rarely do people like their job....so at least with the combined income of my wife and me, we are living fairly comfortably.

If you have any questions about law school, etc., just ask. I won't sugarcoat it.

Wow,that's a high scale there bro....The scale here non union is about half that as is some union shops. The cost of living must be damn high out the way?...What's a 3000sq. ft. house going for in the local area within 30 minute drive? How are you guys for finding and keeping help? There is a huge shortage of quality mechanics and apprentices both union and non-union. My buddy is a project manager for a large union contractor and they are hurting to find anyone decent. I run a damn kindergarden class with some of my guys. My guess is that pay rate is offset by the cost of housing/living. I'm 30 min. away from my office and we work all over Maryland,D.C.and Northern Va. and housing local to me ranges from 200,000+ for a townhouse to 350+ for a 2,000sq. ft.+ house in a decent area. I am just curious how the same field is comparable around the country. Thanx bro, appreciate it.

Do they do strictly commercial work or any and everything?

It is a high scale (but based on 35 hour week)...we have been kind of slow out here the last two years.. their are a lot of electricians out of work at the hall...even seen some good shops go belly up....their was a time 2 or 3 years ago it was hard to get a decent one when times were booming(but no problem hiring one now).....but we have been steady keeping 20-30 electricians busy...mostly commericial ( a lot of hospital work), but do some residiential...not really alot of baby sitting these guys...they went through the Union program and are expected to know their shit and that pay rate is high ...so no screwing around...i have seen a lot guys been let go the same day they arrived on a job site ...cut them their check and see ya!

The cost of Homes out here are crazy in the Bay Area a decent home in a decent area 500,000 +++ ( no joke i have seen house go for over 100,000 over asking) and thats like 2 bed 2 bath or 3 bed 2 bath nothing special.

Not sure what Master License is?

35 hours a week....freaking pussy's...LOL.....I go thru apprentices a dime a dozen cause they always show up late or miss days so fuk them.

A master's license is the highest license you can get and have to have to own a business.

I do everything....field work, service, most of the estimating,...basically run all the guys and their jobs...2 secretary's do all the billing,phones,etc...Most of my guys are really great but 1 or 2 just need to move on...the freaking piss me off more then not.

So many damn whiners out there ya know....just do your work and shut the fuck up...not that hard but some people ya can never please..

A maintenance guy told me today..." Your not too fucking bright are you"..LOL....I was like what?..You called us to come here you dumb fuk so who isn't the bright one dummy?....I wanted to lay that prick out...

We a do a ton of commercial service work and small tenant spaces like in a strip center or something. I can't take anything to big due to manpower( 5 mechanics, 3-4 helpers). We also do alot of residential everything up to 5-7 million dollar houses.

85% of our work is word of mouth/repeat customers or Time and material work. Customer service is A#1 for us. We bid very little work at all which is a great thing..Too many guys out there doing work for nothing...F that
