My top pick today is Philly & Denver over 202. Philly has gone over the total 8 straight and is playing excellent basketball. With this total at 202, it appears that the oddsmakers have caught up to the Sixers and may have set this total a tad high.
But I still like it because (1) Denver may have Carello back for new coach Cooper's first game and (2) while Cooper has stressed playing better defense, he's also preached the need to score more points off the break. Remember, this is why Kiki made a coaching change to begin with. Kiki is building this Denver team to be in the mold of past high scoring, fun to watch teams. Another reason I like Denver to score points tonight is that I think they'll be pumped up to play well for their new coach.
I don't like the total being set so high, but the key is tempo and Philly likes to run. Denver will not slow the ball down either. And a hidden key to the game is Cooper wanting to play more defense. You don't get better on defense after only one practice. I see Iverson & Company attacking the hoop and drawing a lot of fouls-- I love foul shots when betting an over.
