The last time Navy won 10 games was a full century ago. This season they won 9 games for the 1st time since 1963 when Roger Staubach was at QB for them. Today they will face a New Mexico squad that makes their living the old fashioned way.

Both of these teams are throwbacks as the Middies use the triple-option attack and rank 3rd in the country with 241 YPG on the ground. Kyle Eckel leads them with more than 1000 yards and 11 TD with QB Aaron Polanco running for more than 800 and scoring 13 times.

Both teams rank near the bottom of the Division 1-A standings when it comes to throwing the ball but the Lobos have had the advantage of playing AF every season since ’98 and getting a look at a similar attack. New Mexico features a run attack led by Dontrelle Moore who has 1083 yards and has scored 5 TD.

The Lobos held AF to less than 240 yards rushing this season which was a decent feat considering the Falcons averaged nearly 280 YPG on the ground. NM was #7 in Division 1-A when it came to stopping the run giving up less than 94 YPG on 2.5 YPC. They were also 18th in the land when it came to points allowed (17.3 PPG).
