Took a few days off the past couple nights, not willing to donate to the books early on... however tonight is the opening night for several A-10 teams and I think there are 2 big ones for tonight!
Nickel Plays (5 units)
Auburn +8 @ Temple (Play +5 or better)
I looked at this line, and actually laughed. I love the respect Temple is getting, I am a huge John Cheney fan. However, Temple does not deserve to give anyone 8 points, especially this early in the season. Temple continues to play the once potent Cheney zone, and teams continue to pick it apart with perimeter shooting. On paper, Auburn looks terrible. They lost several transfers and have just one player on the roster taller than 6'6. However, Butler is very overrated and Temples interior game just isn't that good. Auburn will probably shoot close to 35 3 pointers in this game and if they can hit 12-14 of them, they will get the cover. With so many open looks, I'll take the SEC team over the A-10.
Seton Hall -9.5 vs Richmond
Being a student at the University of Richmond, they are in no shape to compete in this game. This team is loaded with freshmen and sophomores, and in the preseason none are making waves with the exception of junior forward Jermaine Bucknor. The loss of Dobbins, Skrocki, and Brown will be devistating to this Spider team early in the season as they look for leadership. This team will play good defense but scoring is going to be a chore, at least during the early part of the season. The Pirates return 3 starters from a team that went to the second round of the NCAA tournament last year. They bring in a monster freshman pointguard recruit, 6'5 Justin Cerasoli. 2 Guard J.R. Morris will step right into a starting role and is talented enough to average 15-18 points if given the chance. Kelly Whitney is a beast inside and will dominate the soft interior Spider frontcourt. Double digit Pirate win.
GL guys, really feel strong about these!
