Was just doing some research and this game caught my eye. SMU is absolutely horrible. They are 1-7 on the season and are ranked in the bottom 5 in the country in the following stats: scoring offense (12ppg), rushing defense (allow 244ypg), total defense (allow 477ypg), scoring defense (allow 39ppg), punting (29ypk), and TO margin (-2.5/game). The Ponies have scored a grand total of 2 TD in their last 12 quarters of play, a 42pt loss to Fresno St, a 31pt loss to La Tech, and a 34 point loss to Rice.
Tulsa, on the other hand, are no worldbeaters either. However, they can put some points on the board and are 44th in the country in scoring offense (27ppg). They are 77th in the country in total defense (393ypg) but have played some of the best offensive teams in the country: Boise St. (1st total O), OK State (15th), Hawaii (30), Nevada (25).
This just looks like a two bad football teams going at it, but SMU is simply horrendous. When you are last in the nation in scoring, third last in scoring defense, and turn the ball over more than anyone in the country, you are in MAJOR trouble. Tulsa -12 looks pretty darn good. Thoughts??
