Lot of information to process for tonights game:
Memphis has been an underachieving team this year, they were ranked top 25 in preseason with 19 starters back, but have not been as successful as predicted. Louisville has surged to the front of the conference USA standings and tonights game will basically be for the conference championship.
Louisville has been awesome this year, with their only loss to Miami in the Orange Bowl, blowing a big lead. They are #1 in the nation in total offense and #11 in total defense. On offense they are producing 506 ypg, with 278 ypg passing and 228 ypg rushing. On defense they are only allowing 280 ypg, with 98 ypg rushing and 182 ypg passing. They are defeating opponents by an average score of 42-13.
Louisville's strength of schedule has not been great as their opponents average offenses and defenses rank 78 and 88, respectively.
Memphis has been decent this year, but played below expectations, primarily on the defensive side of the ball. Memphis is #18 in total offense and #67 in total defense. On offense they are producing 438 ypg, with 259 ypg passing and 179 ypg rushing. On defense they are allowing 379 ypg, with 108 ypg rushing and 259 ypg passing. They are defeating opponents by an average score of 32.5 to 28.3.
Memphis's strength of schedule has not been great either as their opponents average offenses and defenses rank 55.3 and 82.3, respectively.
So, Memphis has played some better offensive teams than Louisville, which accounts for them allowing more points and more yardage per game.
However, I have been very impressed with this Louisville team this year, as they come to play every week. They seem to have become a much more disciplined and focused team under Petrino than they ever were under John L. Smith. When they have played weak opponents they have blasted them, which is the sign of a very good team.
I have been unimpressed with Memphis thus far, as they have had to come from behind in several of their wins, including a 17 point come from behind win against Arkansas State.
I beleive Memphis will come out fired up and ready to play, but you can only go so far on emotion(see South Carolina vs my Vols last week). Louisville's balanced offense, which usually consumes clock driving the ball will keep Memphis's offense off the field and keep them out of rhythm. I see Louisville winning this game big by a final score of 52-24, with Memphis putting up a few late scores.
Take Louisville -13.5 and the over 60.5.
Also will tease Louisville-7 and over 54.
feel like both are very solid plays, even laid off last nights game so I could hammer this game. Good luck to everyone!
