Good Morning my Piasons,

Thought I'd pass on some info from Covers.com

As of right now 78% of Public is on Va Tech for tonights game. I know some of you guys don't use or like that info, but I use it some of the time when I'm split, and so far this year between Pro's and College its been good to me by going 12-3.

So my pick tonight is on Va Tech -5.5

I suppose I am with the public again. I am not a Va Tech fan but I still think they are a very tough football team. Their showing against USC early in the year (and the fact that they get Adibi back tonight makes them even tougher) is enough for me to think they can handle Ga Tech.
They better enjoy football season cause their basketball team is not going to enjoy their first year in the ACC...

More info for the Geeks,

Virginia Tech

The Hokies are now 5-2 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) this season, but tonight's game against Georgia Tech kicks off a difficult stretch of five games to close the season. After Georgia Tech, the Hokies play at North Carolina, followed by home games versus Maryland and Virginia, and then they close the season at Miami.

The Hokies have an athletic quarterback in Bryan Randall, who has now thrown five touchdowns against no interceptions in his last two games. The biggest knock on him is that his 21 sacks are the most in the ACC, and he also has a tendency to throw some ill-advised interceptions.

Fortunately, the burden on Randall has been lessened by the return of suspended tailback Mike Imoh, who rejoined the team four games ago. Imoh now leads Virginia Tech with 328 yards on the campaign, and the Hokies are 3-1 SU and ATS since coach Frank Beamer slotted him back into the lineup.

The Hokies' strength is on defense, where they're sixth in the nation with a stingy 81 points against this campaign and over the last three contests, they've allowed just 7.7 points per contest. Virginia Tech has also picked off 10 passes and returned two of them for touchdowns.

Georgia Tech

Defense has been the name of the game for the Yellow Jackets this season also. They hold opponents to just to just 17.7 points per game, good for 27th in the nation.

Georgia Tech would be in big trouble without its stingy defense, as the offense is scoring just 19.9 points per game. The Jackets have two receivers among the top five in the ACC, but sophomore QB Reggie Ball has passed for more than 200 yards only once this season.

Ball is a versatile pivot who loves to run with the football, but his passing game needs work. He has nine touchdowns against 10 interceptions, and eight of those picks came in his last four games.

A combination of the weak offense and solid defense has resulted in a great payout for under bettors. The under has hit in Georgia Tech’s last four games.

The last time these two teams met, back in 1990, the game ended in a 6-3 win for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets were favored by 14 points in that contest.

VT

SCOUTING THE OFFENSE
The running game picked up considerably with the return of TB Mike Imoh, who served a three-game suspension for off-season legal troubles at the start of the fall. The Hokies average 184.9 yards per game rushing against only 178.1 passing.

SCOUTING THE DEFENSE
The Hokies are holding opponents to only 151.7 yards a game passing and rank No. 1 in the ACC in pass defense efficiency. They are tied with Wake Forest and Duke for the most interceptions (10). The run defense is giving up only 113.7 yards per game, putting the Hokies second in the league behind North Carolina State in total defense (265.4 yards)

GT

SCOUTING THE OFFENSE
The Yellow Jackets rate in the middle of the league in total offense with a balanced attack producing an average of 163.4 yards per game rushing and 165.4 passing. Turnovers have hurt. The Jackets have had had 15 of those; only North Carolina State and Clemson, with 17 each, have more.

SCOUTING THE DEFENSE
No question, the defense has stepped it up since the return of DE Eric Henderson, who missed three games with an injury. The Jackets are allowing opponents only a 27.5 percent conversion rate on third downs, third in the league behind Florida State and Virginia Tech. They lead the league in sacks in conference games only with 20 in five outings.

To me the UNDER looks like the play, both defenses are really good and rain is in the forecast.

Andre,

Totally agree. As a matter of fact I've placed 3 Units on the Under.

Weather in the ATL is calling for 50% chance of rain during gametime as well as 6-10 MPH NorthWind.
