Just an absolutely terrible weekend. No words to describe it. Just got to move on and hope for a better week forthcoming. Interesting week as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup officially get under way starting on Tuesday. Hopefully Monday will get the week started out in the right direction and turn the weekends bad events around. Waiting for Pinnacle to open up the odds on Finnish V league cause I'm interested in one of the games. So that will come in the morning. Best of luck to everyone!!!!

Barclay's English Premier League
Charlton Athletic/Southampton Over 2.5 (+106) - 2 units (L) (0 goals scored)
Extremely nice price on two teams who have shown the clear capability to put up goals in the Premiership. To date Charlton has played 4 games and all 4 have gone Over. Totals were 5, 3, 3 and 4. Southampton has conceded at least 2 goals in every game this season. So far Overs are 3-1 with them this season with totals being 2, 5, 3 and 3. Charlton doesn't have the best of strikers in the Premiership but early on they are getting a good overall team effort. With Euell, Jeffers, Rommedahl and Murphy they seem to be getting the job done up front. Southampton features two in form strikers in James Beattie and Kevin Phillips. Both can score from anywhere on the field and are very dangerous. In last 10 meetings Over is 5-5 with both meetings last year going over with scores of 3-2 and 2-1. IMO it's a very good price on this Over. A couple of my other books had higher numbers on the Over so I kind of jumped on it.
Swedish Allsvenskanliga
Helsingborg (-215) Over Trelleborg (W) (Helsingborg won 2-0)
These two met earlier in the season where Helsingborg won at Trelleborg 6-1. Helsingborg is currently in 9th place at 5-6-7 with a GD of +10 (34 GF and 24 GA). At home they are 4-3-2 with a GD of +8 (16 GF and 8 GA). Trelleborg is resigned to the fact they will be relegated at seasons end. Right now they are in last place (14th) with a 2-10-6 record with a GD of -16 (14 GF and 30 GA). On the road they are 1-7-1 with a GD of -10 (4 GF and 14 GA). Helsingborg has won 7 of last 8 between the two and winning the last 4 meetings at home. This is a pretty important home match for Helsingborg. They can move up a few spots in the league table and although they have pretty much no shot at the league title they can still certainly battle for a spot in some European tournaments. Both teams have actually drawn there last two matches with Helsingborg games being away and Trelleborg's home. I think that sets this game up nicely for Helsingborg to get back on the winning side.
Good Luck to All!!!!

Finnish Veikkausliiga
FC Haka (AH -1/2) (-111) Over TPS-Turku (L) (Game tied 0-0)
FC Haka has won 8 games in a row and has gone 12-1-1 in there last 14 games. There lone loss was a home game versus the very same team they face today. Haka will certainly be out for some revenge today as they are just a few points away from wrapping up the league title. Haka is 16-2-4 with a +33 GD (47 GF and 14 GA). Away they are 8-0-3 with a GD of +19 (24 GF and 5 GA). TPS sits in 4th place and are having a pretty good year. They are 11-8-3 with a GD of +4 (31 GF and 27 GA). At home they are 7-3-1 with a +7 GD (19 GF and 12 GA). I've backed Haka numerous times throughout the season and they've done extremely well for me. So I feel this is worth a shot in what is one of there tougher games in a while. Haka is actually 6-0-2 in there last 8 games. Haka is by far the strongest team in the league and I'm just looking for them to continue playing well and to act out a little revenge on the loss to TPS earlier this season.
Swedish Allsvenskanliga
Helsingborg (-225) Over Trelleborg - 2 units (3 units total) (W) (Helsingborg won 2-0)
Adding some more to this play. This better not bite me in the ass cause it will be difficult coping with this loss. I saw some injury info and although Helsingborg will be down a pretty good player Trelleborg will be missing one of there best players so I felt compelled to add more. Line moved a little higher but that should have been expected in this game. Helsingborg has the top form in the league right now and I better hope they continue it here.
Good Luck to All!!!!

Grays Athletic (-110) Over Carshalton Athletic (W) (Grays won 2-0)
Don't know much about these teams. Basically going off the info that I was able to find. But it seems like a good line on a pretty solid team. Grays currently sits in 2nd place in the league with a 5-0-3 record with a GD of +16 (21 GF and 5 GA). Grays are 3-0-2 on the road with a +9 GD (12 GF and 3 GA). Carshalton lie in 20th place with a record of 1-4-3 with a GD of -7 (7 GF and 14 GA). At home Carshalton is 1-3 with a -5 GD (2 GF and 7 GA). I didn't find too much on injuries for this game. But based on Grays results they beat some pretty good opponents this season. Worth a try IMO.

Emericj- yeah that was a hell of alot closer then i wanted it to be. Sweated through that one as Helsingborg scored in the 87th and 88th minutes to win 2-0. Not the way I wanted it but sufficient.
Solid day. I should have known that the Charlton/Southampton game would have gone under. I watched most of the game and there weren't too many good scoring oppurtunities as both teams played around with the ball too much. Under got hit very late so I knew it was a lost before the game started.

Big day on Tuesday. UEFA Champions League group play kicks off with some monster matchups and there are also some Scottish Cup games and English Championship league games. I'm going to bet Chelsea at some point versus PSG. Bet365 pulls there handicaps until early morning and Pinnacle has a 1/2 handicap and I believe last I saw it at 365 they had a safer 1/4. So if they still have it in the morning I'll go with that if not I'll take the 1/2. Still going over the matches so I'm sure to have a bunch more....LOL. Best of luck to everyone!!!!
September 14th
UEFA Champions League
Barcelona (Spain) (AH -1/4) (-114) Over Celtic (Scotland) - 5 units (W) (Barcelona won 3-1)
Somewhat a risky proposition with the amount of units I put on this but I've got an inkling that this isn't the Barcelona teams of old. Plus at worst I believe Barcelona walks away with a draw which would have me lose 1/2 the bet. This season although they are only two games into league play I compare Barca to the style of Chelsea but with more production up front. This is very risky cause Celtic has gone over 30+ games in European competitions without losing at home. But IMO the amazing streak comes to a crashing halt on Tuesday. Gone from Celtic is there club leading goal scorer Henrik Larrson who just happens to now play for Barcelona. Celtics all time leading goal scorer might not even make it onto the field for Barca in his return although it's likely they will try to feature him in some manner. Barca will be boosted by the return of probably the best player in the world in brazilian Ronaldhino. With Ronaldhino, Guily, Eto'o, and Deco this Barca team seem destined to shed the stigma of an under achieving team year after year. With Riikjard as the manager of the team he's got them playing a nice solid defense and this team can attack with any squad. Barcelona hasn't dissapointed in the start of the Primera campaign as they managed two 2-0 wins with a very solid win over Sevilla this past weekend. Only missing player for Barca in this game will be midfielder Motta but he will be replaced by Gerard Lopez. For Celtic they probably only feature one or two players who would make it onto the starting squad of Barca. Celtic is once again dominating the Scottish Premier league as they are 5-0 to start out the season and have beaten league rival Rangers 1-0 at home earlier in the season. Reason for my doubts is that the Scottish league is just not as strong as the Spanish league. Celtic last season failed to advance past the group stage as although they did there business at home they were terrible on the road. This season Celtic was boosted with some newcomers in Henri Camara and Juninho. Celtic has two injury doubts to there squad as Agathe and Sutton trained on Monday but are still not sure on whether they will play. If Sutton is fit on Tuesday he will most likely replace Camara up front and he will join Hartson as there strikers. These two met last season in the UEFA Cup where Celtic won 1-0 at home and drawed 0-0 at Barca. To me there is a big difference between these two teams from last season as I truly believe Barca has improved there team and have finally changed there mentality. I could be seriously wrong on this and I'll pay in the wallet but I think Barca ends Celtic's amazing run as IMO they are the stronger side.
Arsenal (England)/PSV Eindhoven (Holland) Over 2.5 (-143) - 5 units (L) (1 goal scored)
Once again another Over for me involving Arsenal. It's been a good money maker so far in the EPL although Champions League games are a bit tougher to score in. Still this game features two squads who do nothing but attack. Arsenal does have one injury doubt heading into this home clash as Freddie Ljunberg picked up a knock in the league game this past weekend. PSV needed to win in qualifications to get to the group stage. They met Red Star of S&M and they played two high octane games with the scores being a 3-2 loss on the road and a 5-1 win at home. PSV has played 5 league games and 4 have gone Over but that is also against weaker competition. I do think they can manage a goal against Arsenal but I fully expect Arsenal to keep up there goal scoring ways. Arsenal has scored at least 3 goals in each of there 5 league games this season. With Henry, Reyes, Pires, Ljungberg, Fabregas, Vieira and Begkamp this team features one of the worlds best midfields and striker combinations. I expect this to be a high scoring affair as Arsenal will certainly want to impress in front of the home crowd and PSV has shown that they can give up some goals. I would love to take Arsenal in this game and I still might but the odds are pretty high at -300 so it's somewhat a risky proposition cause based on those odds they are comparing PSV to the bottom teams of the EPL and they are better then that.
Inter Milan (Italy)/Werder Bremen (Germany) Over 2.5 (-105) - 5 units (L) (2 goals scored)
Once again going with another Over here. Inter opened up there Serie A campaign with a road draw 2-2 against Chievo Verona. Entering that game Inter's lone worry on the season was going to be there defense. During that game there defense was said to be very slow and lacked any cohesion in the back. With the likes of Stankovic, Veiri, Adriano, Recoba, Veron, Davids and Zanetti this team features a very powerful offense. Inter Milan needed to win in the qualification stage to get to this point where they tied Basle on the road 1-1 and beat them at home 4-1. Last season's German champions Werder Bremen has had some mixed success to the start of this season as they are 2-2. They've dropped the last two games though losing 2-1 to Wolfsburg at home and losing this past weekend at Borussia Mongledbach 3-1. With Klasnic and Klose up front I do think they are capable of putting up a goal or two against Inter's weak defense. Both these two teams have suspect defenses so I do think the Over is a good play in this game IMO. I might take Inter in this game too but right now I'm still trying to mentally cope with there loss and my big loss against Chievo Verona so I do need to think about it more.
Panaithinaikos (Greece)/Rosenborg BK (Norway) Over 2.5 (-105) (W) (3 goals scored)
It's hard to judge these two teams except for the fact that both teams have suspect defenses. Panaithinaikos has yet to play a meaningful game this season as the Greek league has yet to start while Rosenborg is in mid season form but are extremely tired heading into this match. Panaithinaikos has played 5 friendlies (3-2 loss, 1-0 loss, 0-0, 1-1 and 3-0 win) and 1 cup game in which they played a lower division team at home an only managed a 3-2 win on a goal in the 85th minute. Rosenborg is coming off an embarrassing road loss to Valarenga in which they got absolutely hammered 4-1. To make matters worse they will be missing one key defensive player in Vidar Riseth. Rosenborg played two qualification rounds to get to the group stage and they had 3 Over and 1 Under. On there season although against arguably much weaker competition O/U is 12 Overs and 8 Unders. I do think there will be some goals scored in this game as both teams are capable of scoring while there defenses are questionable at best.
Good Luck to All!!!!

Chelsea (England) (AH -1/4) (-118) Over Paris St. Germain (France) - 5 units (W) (Chelsea won 3-0)
PSG/Chelsea Under 2.5 (-143) (L) (3 goals scored)
Two very defensive teams meet H2H in this clash in Paris. Jose Mourinho guided Porto last season to Champions League championship and looks to help Chelsea improve on there semifinal appearance last season. Chelsea has gotten off to a roaring start in the EPL with a 4-0-1 record conceding just one goal. Chelsea seems to do enough offensively with Drogba, Kezman, Gudjohnsen, Makelele, Lampard and Cole. With Drogba and Makelele on board it gives the Chelsea squad an insight into French soccer. Chelsea did have there first mishap this season as they only tied Aston Villa away this past weekend. They very well could have had there eyes on the PSG clash. Only missings for Chelsea is Midfielder Robben and GK Cudicini but both have yet to feature on the season but midfielder Damien Duff will make his return and most likely replace Cole in the starting lineup. At the beginning of the season PSG was being touted as the side to battle Lyon to win the French league. Quickly things have changed as PSG have gotten off to an awful start at the beginning of the season. They are 0-2-3 and have only been able to draw against the 3 newly promoted sides to the league. PSG only managed what was said to be a horrible 2-2 performance against Istres this past weekend. Once again they could have been looking foward to Chelsea but this team has yet to get on track. PSG is a very defensive squad but are actually struggling in the backline conceding a 2nd league worst 9 goals in 5 matches. PSG will be missing two important players for this game in Yepes and Pichot. Once again this is another risky bet with the amount of units I put on it. PSG could wake up at any moment and realize there potential especially in front of there own home crowd. But I have my doubts that they can change things in just 3 days. Chelsea has had great form and looked very good in the EPL and looked really good in the US Champions Tour. This will be a low scoring affair as both teams will play defensive as neither will want to concede the first goal. But i fully expect Chelsea to walk away with the win despite being on the road. Chelsea's owner Abrihimovich spent some serious money in the off season for this exact situation and his players should pay off some today in this game.

Slightly ahead for the day which I guess is a good thing but I expected a bit better. I blame a whole heap of it on Christian Vieri for missing a penalty shot for Inter Milan vs Werder Bremen in the 5th minute of the game. Werder's keeper Ismael took down and was handed a red card for the game. On the assuing penalty Vieri missed the shot badly. Inter went on to put two in the net but that would have been the 3rd. Damn:bang: . On to tomorrow's CL!!!!

September 15th
UEFA Champions League
Liverpool (England) (AH -1/2) (-111) Over AS Monaco (France) - 2 units (W) (Liverpool won 2-0)
Hoping Liverpool was boosted by the nice 3-0 win over West Brom on Saturday as Gerard, Garcia and Finnan did the scoring. Xabi Alonso is expected to replace Finnan in the lineup and that should certainly make the Liverpool lineup stronger. Liverpool needed to play in the Qualification stage to get to this point where they beat Austrian champion Basle 2-0 on the road but dropped a 1-0 loss at home. Liverpool spent some big bucks in the off season to bring in some quality players for a Champions League run. Under Benitez guidance so far they've played ok but it was expected to take some time under him due to the philosophy change. Liverpool will be putting out there best lineup possible in this game and I expect them to perform in front of the Anfield crowd. Monaco enters this game playing pretty well in league play and they also needed to win in Qualifications to get here as they faced a much weaker Gorica (Slovenia) and beat them by a 9-0 aggregate. Coming into this game Monaco faces a huge problem missing 5 key players in top striker Chevanton, midfielders Saviola and Plasil, defender Bernardi and striker Nonda. Monaco is a very skilled side and will still field a sufficient lineup but I really feel based on Liverpool's lineup that they have a big advantage here today at home.
Juventus (Italy) (AH - PK) (-142) Over Ajax (Holland) - 2 units (W) (Juventus won 1-0)
It's always difficult to play in Ajax and Juventus trip will not be easy in this game. But on the level handicap I truly feel at worst they walk away with a draw in this game. Ajax the dominant team of the Holland league enters this game with a few question marks on there team. In league play there defense has been very poor and it showed this past weekend after leading ADO Den Haag 3-0 they then gave up 3 straight goals to ADO to draw 3-3. In league play Ajax has conceded 8 goals in just 4 games of play and they've yet to play the big teams like PSV and Feyenoord. Also a big problem for Ajax is Zlatan Ibrahimovic is gone. He's an asshole and alot of the players didn't like him but he was there best striker on there team. Now Ibrahimovic plays for none other then Juventus and gets a chance to act out some revenge on his former teammates. Juventus started off there league campaign with a very impressive 3-0 away win at Brescia over the weekend. It was Ibrahimovic's first game with his new club and he didn't dissapoint by netting a goal in that game. Despite Juventus lackadaiscal effort versus Djugardens in Qualifications where they were given the scare of a lifetime i think this Juventus team might realize there potential with players such as Nedved, Ibrahimovic, Del Piero, Camaronesi, Zambrotta, Emerson, Tudor, Buffon, Thuram and others I see Juventus being too strong for Ajax even on the road. Should be a very entertaining game. I feel at worst Juventus walks away with the draw in this game which would push the wager.
Fenerbahce (Turkey) (AH - 1/2) (-135) Over Sparta Prague (Czech Rep) - 2 units (W) (Fenerbahce won 1-0)
Both teams have gotten off to similar starts in there league campaigns as both teams come into this game 4-0-1. Not going into much detail in this game but I believe Fenerbahce with Alex and Van Hooidjink up front can do some damage against Sparta in this game. Big home advantage for Fenerbahce in this game and I expect them to take care of business in Turkey.
AS Roma (Italy)/Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine) Under 2.5 (-111) - 2 units VOID GAME SUSPENDED
I just see a very similar game to the one played yesterday between another Italian squad AC Milan versus Shaktar Donetsk in which that game ended in a 1-0 win for AC Milan. Also there are some internal problems in Roma for this game and they will be missing a couple of players so I would think we would see a more defensive style game.
Bayern Munich (Germany) (AH -1/2) (-121) Over Maccabi Tel-Aviv (Israel) - 2 units (W) (Bayern won 1-0)
This is a rather strange occurence. This evening marks the Jewish new year and holiday Rosh Hashanah and both MTA and Bayern both asked to move the game to yesterday but UEFA refused to comply. So I don't expect a full crowd in Israel for todays game. To me Bayern should just be too strong for MTA despite missing a couple of key players for this game. Pizzaro is still out with a groin injury and I forgot his name but there Iranian striker is not allowed to play in Isreal due to Iran not recognizing Israel as a nation. (Just a strange ass game IMO...LOL). Still with Makaay, Ballack, Frings, Ze Roberto, Kahn and others Bayern should have enough to overcome what should be a very emotional staduim in Israel. This MTA team is not the strongest. They needed to play 2 rounds of qualifying to get to this point as they barely knocked off HJK Helsinki 1-0 in aggregate and PAOK of Cyprus 4-0 in aggregate but that was only cause PAOK used an ineligible player and was given a 3-0 home loss in that game. According to match reports MTA clearly looked like a weak team. The Israeli league has yet to kickoff while the German league is in it's early stages. Bayern should have too much class for MTA in this game. This is somewhat of a must win game here for Bayern cause when your lumped in a group with Juventus and Ajax you can't afford to drop any points to a team like MTA.
Good Luck to All!!!!

Lyon (France)/Manchester United (England) Under 2.5 (-133) - 3 units (L) (4 goals scored)
Lyon (France)/Manchester United (England) Under 1 (-133) - 1st Half - 2 units (L) (2 goals scored)
I just see a very defensive game in this one. Lyon has only scored 2 goals once this season in league play. They are hurt offensively due to there leader Giovanni Elber being out with a broken ankle. Man U does have the return of RVN for this game but they feature numerous injuries throughout there lineup and will be starting many reserve players. Simply put I expect Man U to play very defensive in this game to ensure at least a draw. On the season Lyon has played 4 Unders and 1 Over (The lone Over was 3 goals scored in 81st, 88th and 90th minutes). Man U has played two CL games in which both went over but against a much weaker opponent. In league play Man U has 3 Unders and 2 Overs (1 over was 2 goals in the 90th minutes). I could see Lyon trying to open this game up because at times Man U defense has looked vulnerable but Ferguson has vowed to make sure they tighten up in the back line.
Real Madrid (Spain) (AH - 1/2) (+110) Over Bayer Leverkusen (L) (Bayer won 3-0)
To me at least Bayer Leverkusen has just been way too inconsistent at the start of the season to back them even at home in this game. They hammered Bayern Munich at home just a few weeks ago 4-1 only to drop there next game to a weak Mainz squad 2-0 on the road where they were said to be completely outplayed. Now they face the Spanish giants who seem to have shed there old stigma just like Barca did of being an overpaid underachieving squad. With Ronaldo, Zidane, Owen, Samuel, Morientes, Raul, Figo, Beckham and others I just feel they'll be too strong for the inconsistent Bayer in this game. The one main problem for Real in the past has been there defense. In the off season they went out and improved this defense mightily by adding Argentinian Walter Samuel and Englishmen Jonathan Woodgate. Although Woodgate is not expected to play in this game Samuel along wtih Roberto Carlos, Gonzalez and Salgado have shut down there opponents so far this season. In there two CL games versus Wisla Krakow they only conceded 1 goal in the two game series and that was an 89th minute meaningless goal. In there two league games versus Mallorca and Numancia they failed to yield a goal and there defense was said to look very strong. This should be a very good game. I just think it's a solid number on a Real win that's why I'm backing it plus it's about time Real finally gets back to there old ways in the Champions League.
Coppa Italia
Fiorentina (-188) Over Brescia (L) (Game tied 1-1)
In league play Fiorentina dropped a hardfought 1-0 away loss to AS Roma while Brescia got hammered at home by Juventus 3-0. Fiorentina needed to play in the opening group stage to get to this level of the tournament. They went 2-0-1 with a GD of +6 (6 GF and 0 GA). Reasoning for Fiorentina playing in the initial opening stage was that they are a newly promoted team to the Serie A this season. Both teams will be w/o starters for this game but Fiorentina will still posses the better overall team in this game.

Sticking to sides for a while I think and laying off O/U's. They are just killing me of late. I think I'm only going to play them in certain occasions. Strange day. Bayer Leverkusen absolutely hammered Real Madrid. They were said to dominate every facet of the game and probably could have won by a few more goals. AS Roma/Dynamo Kiev were well on there way to and under the way the game sounded except for a STUPID Roma fan who decided to throw either a rock or a lighter at the referee which caused a injury to the head of the ref. The game was subsequently suspended. The other sides all wound up working out pretty well and all escaped with narrow 1-0 victories with the exception of Liverpool winning 2-0. On to tomorrow's UEFA Cup. Best of luck to everyone!!!!

Thanks Urawa Red Diamonds!!!! Got me a double on the ML and the Over in that game. It's always nice to start out with an early winner. Still got a WHOLE lot left to go so I can only hope it continues. Urawa cruised to there 5th win of the season as they sit alone atop the standings in the J league. They've now scored 21 goals in just 5 games of play in league and this is the 2nd consecutive week they've jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then conceded a meaningless goal. I've played only 4 games in the J league this season and all have been on Urawa including the two today and all 4 have been winners. Thanks Urawa!!!!!
Update:
September 18th: 2-0 (+2 units) with 22 still pending

Solid day overall. I really can't complain about anything. Just a little dissapointed that Bayer Leverkusen didn't manage to win and that I completely misjudged the Bristol City-Bradford City game. But besides those it was a succesful day.
