YTD......6-6.......Kissing our sister at this point!!
Florida State....+1.5....gang...i mentioned in other threads that i feel this is a pick game...as it is year after year...let me tell you something....state is tired of losing to miami as not one player on this team has ever beat them losing 5 in a row....both defenses only return 4 starters but we know how each of these teams replenish year after year after year....i give a slight nod on offense this year to the seminoles as Sr. Qb Chris Rix is a considerably better passer than Berlin...can the state o line give him time to throw....at least as much time as berlin will have and Rix's passing efficiency is leaps and bounds above Berlins...with a slight nod on offense and the tragedy that has shook the Bowden family this past weekend i truly feel the edge goes to state and i'd give 1.5 in this game but instead the man is giving it to me....and it feels good....i'm taking Florida State and the points....
Connecticut.....-13.5....the Huskies can just out and out score team...these guys averaged 34 pts a game last year and unlike many teams...beat everyone they were supposed to...they lost a heart breaking game 31-24 to Rivers and company at NC State last year...they have a 4 year starting Sr. Qb in Dan Orlovsky that threw for a meager 3500 yards and 33 friggin td's last year and threw for 5 td's in their season opening win against Murray State 52-14....along with Orlovsky the offense returns 9 starters and 7 on defense...Duke is...well they are Duke...they suck and hopefully many of you joined me with the Navy pick this past saturday...Navy ground it out to cover a 7.5 spread....UConn will air it out against a duke team on the road back-t-back weeks to open the season....this one is my favorite game this weekend...
Penn State......-1.5....everyone has been so down on JoePa and the Nittany Lions the past year and for good reason...they couldnt get the friggin pigskin in the endzone...one game does not make a team but they played well against Akron....and dont think the Zips...i luv that name...are a slouch they finished 3rd in the tough MAC last year and can play....this is the thing with Penn State...they return 7 starters on a defense that finished 3rd...yes 3rd in the NATION last year against the pass....BC QB Paul Peterson threw for a dismal 136 yards against Ball Friggin State in a 19-11 win....they looked lightning fast on the corners and in the secondary against Akron and will shut down Peterson...BC has lost both their best running backs from last year and their starter this year is out to injury from the Ball State game....it is gonna be very difficult for them to move the ball at all and Mills will seek big revenge from last year when BC came into the Keystone state and whipped the lions as 9 point dogs...taking Penn State laying the lousy point and a half....
Auburn....-13.....drum roll please....and for the 2nd week in a row the acid casualty dead head breaks one of his own cardinal rules and second guesses himself....Clemson is off the board....and i might add that it was some wonderful insight from some of my fellow forum members that first had me rethinking...then some hard game capping that had me finally not just removing the tigers but adding the tigers....Auburn is a veteran team that can put points up quickly and often...cakewalk start against Louis. Monroe was just a tune up for the bulldogs...i see little chance of a letdown and little chance that state can keep the tigers outta the endzone all day....they were dead last last year in points allowed giving up an amazing 39 ppg....they also had the dubious distinction of having the 2nd worst t.o. differential as well...on offense they lost their starting qb, rb and best receiver....besides that it the same cast of characters on their way to maybe a 3 win season...they already won last week against tulane....and they do play div IAA Maine and UAB...which aint a gimme...they will have a let down and even if they dont they cant stay within 2 tds of Auburn....lay the wood$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Gl on every play gang.....

sometimes my gut influences my capping which isnt bad....i really feel the game is pretty much a pick and that the bowden tragedy this past weekend is gonna give bobbys boys a little extra edge that may be enough for the indians.....gl

I like the Florida State, Penn State, and Uconn picks....not sure about that damn Clemson...they cost me last week, thought they would drill WF.
Good Luck on the picks bro, the Lions will roar again!
My big takes last weekend were a teaser featuring Cal and Virginia...Rutgers and Memphis....Purdue and actually got Houston at +3 1/2 with the teaser....thank god for the half but what the #$!@ happened to the Cougs offense...geezus! Bad picks for the weekend were Vandy and Clemson.....
Keep 'em coming Dead

dead- GL! take a hard look at USU this week...under the radar game that is one of the best plays on the board IMO. I just can't take CLE. This series has been a dog dominated series and CLE lets teams hang around too much. I am most likely jumping on UCONN....anyway, i'm rambling....GL!!!

You're the man Dead! GL this weekend...I really like the FSU pick...don't necessarily think Miami is as good as everyone is touting them...but we'll see......IF that damn hurricane doesn't touch down by then

i am still working on the clemson game and after all i am looking at it appears i may be taking it off the board....these are essentially the same teams from last year where the tigers went down to georgia and whipped tech 39-3....whitehurst is a better qb than ball but tech has the better running game....the 7.5 though maybe a little too much wood to lay in a game like this....i will pdate when i shit or get off the pot....

In the for what it's worth department....
Clemson does have 57 lettermen back from last season and they did finish strong last season by winning their last four games and scoring over 100 points total in those games....but a grueling start to this season features 4 of 5 conference opponents....no easy tuneups.....I thought they would roll last week but the Demon Deacons kept the Tigs from the money.....They started fast scoring two touchdowns early and then faded and finally winning in OT, and, they couldn't run the ball...just 104 yards rusing even though Whitehurst did pass for 288!
Tech on the other hand has a young team but did manage to make a 7th straight bowl appearance one of only 11 teams to do so going into this season and they have 7 bowl teams from last season on their schedule this year. Chan Gailey put stock in freshman QB Reggie Ball and it paid off despite their laydown in Athens 51-7. PJ Daniels had 1447 yards rushing and a 5.1 per carry average. They did lose 4 players to the NFL draft and they're not the most talented ACC team around with only 3 defensive starters back. They'll score but can they stop Clemmie?
Just too many if's ands and buts for me in this one.....of course now that I'm gonna lay off it'll be a blowout! Jusst my luck!

Good luck Dead, especially if you play on those cheating ass
Clemons Pussycats. Good write ups as always.
Clemson Joke:
A scientist from Clemson University has invented a bra that keeps
women's breasts from jiggling and prevents the nipples from pushing through the fabric when cold weather sets in.
At a news conference announcing the invention, a large group of men took the scientist outside and kicked the shit out of him.

it looks like i will pass on the pussycats again this week...patted myself on the back staying away from them last week but really thought this week would be similar to the game last year...especially in the valley of death...gl this week...23 days till i arrive in myrtle with my band of 20....not that im counting or looking forward to it mind you...by the way...taking off tomorrow for a drive up the PA turnpike...playing Oakmont CC FRiday...10:28 tee time...cant friggin wait...even though the course is gonna chew me up and spit me out....hoping a quality caddy will help my game....and "improve my lies"...greens are rolling at a 14!!! and i havent made a putt over 3 feet this year.....i am in deep shit....

the wife of the greens super there used to be my secretary...hired her when she was 21...so fine too i might add...i actually wrote him his letter of recommendation to the Rutgers Turf Management School in 1989....he worked as an assistant at Congressional for the last two opens there....with Fazio built Sand Ridge in suburban Cleveland a few years back and has been head man at Oakmont for about 5 years now....I have broken promises each of the last 5 years to get out there and play and finally am doing it this Friday....cant wait....caddy will cost me 60-70 and pro shop probably this weeks profits from cfb but how often does a non member get to play the #4 course in the world....2007 U.S. Open there...no too friggin often...
Rooster....caddy has been hand picked for me so i plan on taking him to the range to see me whack a few balls before we tee off...havent played with a caddy in a long time....i think Danny Noonan was the last caddy i had....lol....

Dead, I am with you on UCONn and Penn ST. I do not agree with you on the Miami/Fl St game. Rix is a choke artist against the Canes, he has shown that. With 80k+, I do not see that changing. The strengths of both teams are up front. FSU o-line and UM the d-line. FSU can be as tired as they want of losing to UM but that means nothing in this rivalry. Gl on your picks DEAD.

that was pretty good but see in clemson, we never cared about whether we could see their nipples or not, we never had any problems talking them out of their shirts to see the real thing. tough loss on clemson last week. i know it hurts you even more to be pulling for em and than shit happens. let's line up some winners this week.
dead:
you were right about clemson last week. i still think that the bs 85 yd td is what swung the momentum, wake did absolutley shit till then. anyway.
all new week. i am looking hard at georgia and will probably pull the trigger on the tigers if i can lose the hook and come in a 6.5. fsu is the play, i am sticking to the fact that the qb situation in miami is horrid. the defense will eventually give up points to fsu, but miami's offense will be hard pressed to score this week.
gl guys.

dogg....couldnt agree more about rix last year but remember both games were close with a 16-14 game in there...and you know as well as me the biggest choker in fla state/miami games in past has been the seminoles kicking game....i see them winning one for their coach and leaving the choke collars at home on this road trip...gl though...if miami wins by 1 good for you...
payday...your right....i never ad a problem getting the shirts off those easy tiger girls either...i gots no problem at all pulling for the tigers if i lay on them...and i still may!!!

those 3 games are my favorites this week. the fsu/miami game is gonna be a grind out. i think it'll also be very low scoring. everytime i play the 2 teams on ncaa football 2005. fsu always wins . its a narrow margin but that margin no matter how little will cover this week, cause fsu is gonna win straight up !
hey dead , add the missourri game to it and do a 4 team parlay. i'm thinkin its one of the best looking so far.
best of luck bud !!!!

gotta tell you i am not a parlay kinda guy.....call me mr. conservative....i think its hard enough to pick one game much less package 2, 3 or 4 games together...maybe i'll pick up one of those parlay cards and just throw 20 bucks on a 4 teamer for shits and giggles...gl this week

GL dead-none of them made my card so I can pull for all of them for ya!! Lol. Hope you hit them all brother! Nice read on Cal last week. I thought AF would sack up, but it is evident they are bottom tier and Cal is top tier. Good call.

Agreed-I have a sneaky suspicion that they win by 32.

I like 3 of your 4 probably going to stay off the FSU/MIA game to close to call. UCONN looks very solid and that being your fav. of the weekend makes me even love it more.

rick....i see bc having great difficulty moving the ball and scoring against an upper echelon defense in penn state....bc has no weapons at all...zack mills finally coming into his own....i think....really think this could be a romp...gl

Incredible write up on Auburn/MSU!!! For one we ran 1/16th of our playbook against La-Monroe. Tubberville has always hated MSU. We matchup well in pretty much every position top to bottom with more stars at tailback and in our secondary. Our defense should not yield too much too the Bulldogs. Our offense will more than likely pick up its strong play. I see us running some play action early on to keep the Bulldogs honest. The only worry is Jason Campbell and he should have some incentive being from Starkville. Have no fear if he goes sour, Brandon Cox our backup has impressed me with his arm and decision making. I think we actually look better with Cox back there. Nonetheless my pick is Auburn 38 MSU 16.
Keep the writeups coming Dead that was some execellent reading material. GL this weekend.

cant get much worse gang....looking around it appears lots took a little hit this weekend.....Seminole gagging really got the weekend off on the wrong foot....bad way to start and bad way to finish....I am just back from my spectacular round of golf on the hallowed grounds of Oakmont CC....what a friggin day....takes a little sting outta pickin' a pile o shit in cfb and on my way to my sons football game so i'll get back in the threads and see how everyone else did later this eve....gl on nfl today gang....dont chase losses...bet smart....later

Besides splitting the weekend I had a basement full of crap and storm water....18 inches from soaked ground believe it or not from Hurricane Frances fallout here in my part of Ohio....FEMA was here and I was talking to one of their reps...he actually said to me "if I was a bettin' man I would never have seen this coming"....kind of set the tone for the cfb weekend for me....Sunday cfb for me meant "cold freaking beer" and I layed off the nfl games....just kind of ticked about the whole thing!
