Outright plays (1.5pts):

Chris DiMarco to win 28/1 e.w. @ Sportingbet, Sporting Odds and Victor Chandler
Hard to ignore finishes of 6th, 2nd and 6th in DiMarco's last three starts and he has been playing particularly well since June. The course changes at Glen Abbey to make the fairways narrower and the rough heavier should suit his game, though he did finish in the top-10 in 1998. Unless he coasts after a slow start, he really should be in the mix again on Sunday evening.

Robert Allenby to win 40/1 e.w. @ Tote
Allenby has no Ryder Cup to worry about next week so less danger of him coasting after a slow start. He comes into the event off successive top-10 finishes and has finished in the top-10 in his last two starts in Canada. The tougher course and smaller greens should also help Allenby this week.

Justin Leonard to win 40/1 e.w. @ Tote
Leonard might have some rueful thoughts about the Ryder Cup next week as he had a great chance to win the PGA Championship and earn his place in the team. It was no surprise that he finished a lowly 50th in the NEC Invitational the following week, but he has now had two weeks' rest and now has the goal of playing in the Tour Championship. He has finished 3rd on this course (1999) and 2nd in his last appearance in this event, so he should be confident of another good showing, particularly with the course changes.

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Aaron Baddeley to beat David Duval -115 @ Olympic
Last week was a great week for Duval, but still opposing him until he shows that it was more than a flash in the pan. Wouldn't normally back Badds in matchups, but rarely get the chance to oppose Duval nowadays.

Scott McCarron to beat Mark Calcavecchia -110 @ Sportingbet and Sporting Odds
Calc has a good record on this course, but he is a long way from his best. He has finished in the top-10 just once in the last fifteen months and so McCarron deserves his 7-3-0 h2h lead in 2004.

Jesper Parnevik to beat Mark Calcavecchia -114 @ Expekt
Parnevik can go even better and lead Calc 8-2-0 h2h in 2004 and he can also boast top-10 finishes in two of four starts at Glen Abbey.

Hidemichi Tanaka to beat Greg Chalmers -110 @ Olympic [3pts]
Chalmers is struggling this year. He has missed 12 of 21 cuts in 2004 and his last three in a row. He may have finished 4th at Glen Abbey in 2000, but that was a long time ago and he is in no form to compete with Tanaka.

Fredrik Jacobson to beat Daniel Chopra -125 @ Paddy Power
Very unlucky not force his way into the Ryder Cup team at the BNW International Open two weeks ago, looking for Jacobson to refocus and get into the Tour Championship. He is playing well enough and while Chopra has had a surprisingly good season, Jacobson is still the best Swedish player at the moment.

Loren Roberts to beat Justin Rose +100 @ Olympic
Will take these odds on Roberts in this matchup. Rose is still struggling with his game and his confidence. He is unlikely to find it on the PGA Tour when he languishes down in 81st place in the European Order of Merit. Surely he is better trying to concentrate his efforts there and try and qualify for the Volvo Masters. Either way, Roberts keeps grinding out the top-25 finishes and that will good enough again this week.

Tommy Tolles to beat Ted Tryba -110 @ Olympic [3pts]
Opposing Duval and Tryba in one week ... I just with Olympic carry on posting their "Off Screen" matchups! Tryba has played in 13 events this year (including four Nationwide Tour events) and missed the cut in every one. He can't even boast a good record around Glen Abbey in the distant past. This one will definitely be decided before the weekend!

What does it mean on your site "Allenby is a non-runner"?
Is he not playing this week?

His name was not on the starting sheet yesterday evening, so he must have withdrawn.

Outrights - FINAL RESULT: 0-2; -2.00pts

DiMarco 24th
Leonard 66th

Briefly, for one round, it looked as though DiMarco might earn a return on the play. But it was all too brief this week.

Matchups - FINAL RESULT: 3-1-0; +2.78pts

Baddeley/Duval LOST by 3
McCarron/Calcavecchia WON (Calcavecchia wd)
Parnevik/Calcavecchia WON (Calcavecchia wd)
Tanaka/Chalmers VOID (Tanaka dns)
Jacobson/Chopra WON by 4
Roberts/Rose VOID (Roberts dns)
Tolles/Tryba VOID (Tolles dns)

Unlucky that Baddeley missed the cut by one and so deny the chance for the sweep, but rather fortunate that three plays were voided and the opponents all made the cut and played much better than expected. So will gladly take this profit on these plays.
